BACKGROUND: The histologic classification of thymoma has remained a subject of controversy for many years. In 1999, the World Health Organization Consensus Committee published a histologic typing system for tumors of the thymus.
METHODS: We reclassified a series of 100 thymomas resected at Tokushima University Hospital and four affiliated hospitals in Japan between 1973 and 2001 according to the World Health Organization histologic classification and reported its clinicopathologic relationship and prognostic relevance.

OBJECTIVE: This report describes the consensus outcome of an interdisciplinary workshop that was held at the National Institutes of Health in April 2001. The purpose of the workshop and this article are to define the terms "spasticity," "dystonia," and "rigidity" as they are used to describe clinical features of hypertonia in children. The definitions presented here are designed to allow differentiation of clinical features even when more than 1 is present simultaneously.

We isolated six viruses from patients diagnosed with aseptic meningitis or hand, foot, and mouth disease. The cytopathic effect of these viruses on cultured cells was like that of enteroviruses. However, viral neutralization tests against standard antisera were negative. INTRODUCTION: Precancerous changes of the cervix frequently occur in women in their reproductive age and are associated with sexually transmitted diseases. The evolution of these lesions qualifies them as precursors of malignancy, and their origination is associate with various risk factors, human papillomavirus (HPV) being the most important one.
