BACKGROUND AND AIM OF THE STUDY: Multi-detector computed tomography (MDCT), combined with retrospective electrocardiographic gating, permits cardiac imaging with high accuracy. Recent advances in MDCT have seemed to respond adequately to the need for a non-invasive and reliable assessment of the coronary artery lumen.
METHODS: Two patients with prosthetic aortic valves (one bioprosthetic, one mechanical) presented at the authors' institution with dyspnea and syncopal episodes. MDCT was performed to evaluate thrombus characteristics and exclude coronary artery disease (CAD).

OBJECTIVE: To estimate the possibilities of using and systematizing computed tomographic findings in patients with toxic phosphorus necrosis of the jaw.
MATERIAL AND METHODS: The investigation enrolled 87 patients diagnosed as having toxic phosphorus osteonecrosis. Radiation examination consisted of two stages: primary and repeated radiologic examinations in the postoperative period (final examination before hospital discharge). All the patients underwent skull X-ray and multislice computed tomography (MSCT).

BACKGROUND: The aim of this study was to determine whether the diagnosis of intracranial tuberculosis (TB) can be improved when multi-slice computed tomography (MSCT) scans are taken with a 5-min delay after contrast media application.
MATERIAL AND METHODS: Pre- and post-contrast CT scans of the head were obtained from 30 patients using a 16-slice spiral CT. Dual-phase acquisition was performed immediately and 5 min after contrast agent injection. Patients with ankylosing spondylitis (AS) have an approximately two-fold increased death rate compared to the general population, which is predominately caused by increased cardiovascular risk. The prevalence rate for myocardial infarction is approximately 2-3 fold increased as compared with the general population. The inflammatory process appears to have an important role in causing this excess cardiovascular risk. In this paper, we present a case of severe coronary artery disease which could be demonstrated clearly by computer tomography in a 27-year-old woman who is being followed with AS.
