BACKGROUND: Siponimod is an approved drug for secondary progressive multiple sclerosis (SPMS), and may exert neuroprotective effects beyond its established immunomodulatory properties. Brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) is a key molecule supporting neuronal survival and plasticity, and its secretion by immune cells may contribute to neuroregeneration in MS.
