ETHNOPHARMACOLOGICAL RELEVANCE: Branched cancerwort, Kickxia ramosissima (Wall.) Janchen (Scrophulariaceae) is traditionally used for the treatment of inflammatory disorders such as rheumatism, diabetes, jaundice and for activation of immune system. Local communities also used this plant for the treatment of spleen enlargement, as febrifuge and in dysmenorrhea. In rats the sinusoidal glutathione (GSH) carrier transports GSH bidirectionally, and its activity is influenced by the thiol-disulfide status; the Vmax of sinusoidal GSH efflux was increased by dithiothreitol (DTT) and decreased by cystine. A rapid, reliable method for the multiresidue analysis of eight commonly used fungicides by micellar electrokinetic chromatography (MEKC) was developed.
