Management of adults and children undergoing chimeric antigen receptor T-cell therapy: best practice recommendations of the European Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (EBMT) and the Joint Accreditation Committee of ISCT and EBMT (JACIE).

Chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cells are a novel class of anti-cancer therapy in which autologous or allogeneic T cells are engineered to express a CAR targeting a membrane antigen. In Europe, tisagenlecleucel (Kymriah™) is approved for the treatment of refractory/relapsed acute lymphoblastic leukemia in children and young adults as well as relapsed/refractory diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, while axicabtagene ciloleucel (Yescarta™) is approved for the treatment of relapsed/refractory high-grade B-cell lymphoma and primary mediastinal B-cell lymphoma. Both agents are genetically engineered a

Standardization and quality improvement of secondary prevention through cardiovascular rehabilitation programmes in Europe: The avenue towards EAPC accreditation programme: A position statement of the Secondary Prevention and Rehabilitation Section of the European Association of Preventive Cardiology (EAPC).

Despite the proven efficacy and cost-effectiveness of contemporary cardiovascular rehabilitation programmes, the referral to/uptake of and adherence to cardiovascular rehabilitation remains inadequate. In addition, heterogeneity persists amongst different cardiovascular rehabilitation centres in Europe, despite the available scientific documents describing the evidence-based rehabilitation format/content. This position statement was elaborated by the Secondary Prevention and Rehabilitation (SP/CR) section of EAPC. It defines the minimal and optimal cardiovascular rehabilitation standards. In a

Autologous haematopoietic stem cell transplantation and other cellular therapy in multiple sclerosis and immune-mediated neurological diseases: updated guidelines and recommendations from the EBMT Autoimmune Diseases Working Party (ADWP) and the Joint Accreditation Committee of EBMT and ISCT (JACIE).

These updated EBMT guidelines review the clinical evidence, registry activity and mechanisms of action of haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) in multiple sclerosis (MS) and other immune-mediated neurological diseases and provide recommendations for patient selection, transplant technique, follow-up and future development. The major focus is on autologous HSCT (aHSCT), used in MS for over two decades and currently the fastest growing indication for this treatment in Europe, with increasing evidence to support its use in highly active relapsing remitting MS failing to respond to dise

Globalization and glocalization in graduate medical education: the ACGME international experience in Qatar.

A fundamental challenge associated with the implementation of global benchmarks arises from reconciling standardized international expectations with diverse local contexts, as differences in healthcare systems, cultural norms, and resource availability often limit the direct applicability of externally developed standards and require context-sensitive adaptation. As the globalization of graduate medical education continues to advance, initiatives such as the international adoption of milestone-based frameworks demonstrate that global convergence is feasible when accompanied by deliberate local

Spine Centers in Northeastern United States: Assessing Similarities and Disparities to Build more Homogeneity Across the Country.

PROPOSE OF REVIEW: Spine centers are common, but no standardized regulations govern their designation. Existing certifications are issued by multiple independent organizations and are not necessarily equivalent, while many centers remain non-accredited. Consequently, centers may vary in qualifications, quality of care, and services. This study examined and compared the defining characteristics of spine centers in Northeast America. RECENT FINDINGS: A total of 194 spine centers were identified and compared based on accreditation, services, provider numbers, and proximity to metropolitan areas.

Burnout of intrinsically motivated GPs when exposed to external regulation: A combined panel data survey and cluster randomized field experiment.

Burnout among general practitioners (GPs) is a problem in many countries. Research indicates that burnout is less likely to occur among intrinsically motivated employees. Based on self-determination theory, we investigate 1) whether intrinsically motivated GPs are less burned out than their colleagues, and 2) whether the most intrinsically motivated GPs are more likely to burn out when exposed to an external regulatory accreditation programme. General practices in Denmark were cluster randomized to mandatory accreditation in 2016, 2017 or 2018. We measure GPs' intrinsic motivation and burnout

Organization and structure of intensive care management of adult congenital heart disease in the United States.

BACKGROUND: The growing number of adults with congenital heart disease has led to the formation of dedicated centers to provide specialized care. There is a paucity of published data on the organization, staffing, and resources available when adult congenital heart disease (ACHD) patients are hospitalized in intensive care settings. This study aims to describe the delivery of intensive care for ACHD patients in the United States and identify key differences between accredited centers or those pending accreditation and non-accredited Adult Congenital Heart Association (ACHA) centers. METHODS:
