A case of multiseptate gallbladder and nine previously reported, well documented cases are reviewed. Our patient, like most of those previously reported, had biliary symptoms, which were relieved by cholecystectomy.

A case is presented of multiseptate hypoplastic gallbladder, which is an extremely rare combination of two congenital anomalies. The patient was diagnosed as having cholecystitis and was relieved of her symptoms following cholecystectomy, even though the specimen did not show evidence of inflammation or calculi. The significance of this is emphasized by reviewing the 5 authenticated cases of multiseptate gallbladder reported in the literature. Awareness of this condition should avoid misinterpretation of cholecystograms.

Acute infectious mononucleosis is a typical self-limited lymphoproliferative illness characterized by fever, tonsillar pharyngitis, and lymphadenopathy in adolescents and young adults. Thickening of the gallbladder wall is rarely observed. We report a case of infectious mononucleosis in which marked thickening of the gallbladder wall was detected by ultrasonography and computed tomography.

At the instance of a 30-year-old female patient a casuistic contribution to the differential diagnosis of the so-called "postcholecystectomy syndrome" by means of ERC is given. On condition after cholecystectomy an amputation neuroma had again led to colics. Amputation neuromas are rare, but not unknown causes for complaints after operations at the bile ducts. The origin of such a neuroma at the extrahepatic bile ducts is discussed.

In a prospective study, ultrasound examinations of the gallbladder as well as cholecystocholangiography were carried out in 77 patients with solitary stones and the ultrasound stone symptoms were compared with the x-ray findings. During a 12-month period from September 1976 to September 1977, 114 patients in a community hospital had ultrasonography as part of their diagnostic work-up for suspected gallbladder disease.
