The various definitions and classifications of megalencephaly are reviewed, and numerous diseases and syndromes associated with megalencephaly are listed. A new definition of megalencephaly based on quantitative radiographic features is proposed. We define megalencephaly as a brain volume which exceeds the mean by more than twice the standard deviation. Furthermore, a modified etiopathogenic classification of megalencephaly results in three main groups, viz anatomic, metabolic and dynamic megalencephaly. DSM-III incorrectly designates the majority of paraphilias as atypical. Only eight are named, and those because of their forensic history, rather than their pathology and therapeutic need. In this paper, thirty-odd paraphilias are subdivided into six categories on the basis of their phenomenological dynamics. The new concept of the developmental lovemap is introduced for the first time. A new treatment originated by the author in 1966 combines an androgen agonist with counseling therapy.

A classification of disseminated sclerosis summing up many years of follow up of 750 patients is proposed. According to this classification, the cerebral, spinal and cerebrospinal forms are distinguished. The cerebral form includes hyperkinetic and ocular disease varieties. Both childhood disseminated sclerosis and disease variety with a late debut are distinguished. Rare cases of familial disseminated sclerosis are marked. Acute disseminated sclerosis is considered only as a stage of chronic disease development.

The results of neurological, pathomorphological and clinic-genealogical studies of vilyuisk encephalitis (VE), a chronic progressive disease of CNS, are presented. The disease is spread in Yakutija in Vilyui river basin (mainly in Vilyuisk and Kobyaisk regions) exclusively among native population and is known there since the middle of the last century. The results obtained suggest that VE (despite the existing opinion on its natural-focal virus etiology) is an ethnic hereditary disease with autosomal recessive type of transmission, is spread in a limited Yakut population by an ancestor effect

Retrocorneal membranes can be composed from one layer only -- endothelium, or two layers: endothelium and Descemet, or three layers: endothelium, Descemet membrane and corneal stroma. Besides those corneal membranes which may occur after keratoplasty there are also other forms of inflammatory, degenerative, traumatic or genetic origin. Because diminished corneal transparency often occurs in those cases the precise diagnosis may be difficult on clinical investigation, often only after histological examination the membrane structure may be established.
