A 29-year-old primigravida presented at 32 weeks of gestation with ultrasonographic evidence of fetal ascites, a cystic pelvic mass, hydronephrosis and oligohydramnios. We report the draft genome sequence of a multidrug-resistant Enterobacter cloacae strain (3251) isolated from a dog in Bangladesh. The 5.1-Mb genome contains 41 predicted antimicrobial resistance genes and 9 virulence genes, highlighting companion animals as potential reservoirs of clinically relevant antimicrobial resistance.

Resistance to Ceftazidime-Avibactam in Enterobacter cloacae is poorly understood. Whole genome sequencing identified 6 variants in isolates collected from a patient before and after acquiring Ceftazidime-Avibactam resistance. The VIM-1-producing multidrug-resistant strain Enterobacter cloacae was isolated from blood culture. The strain showed multiple resistances to clinically used antibiotics, including all β-lactams, fluoroquinolones, aminoglycosides, and sulfonamides.
