Wegener's granulomatosis is a systemic vasculitis with prominent involvement of the respiratory tract and kidney. There are 10 patients with Wegener's granulomatosis in the literature who were documented as acute pancreatitis. Endosonography was performed preoperatively in 33 patients with common bile duct carcinoma and in 43 patients with carcinoma of the common hepatic duct and its bifurcation. Mesorectal lymph-node involvement in rectal cancer may be detected by endosonography as a hypoechoic lesion, but false positives are a problem. We report a new method, using transrectal ultrasound-guided core biopsy, for verifying metastatic growth in a mesorectal lymph node detected by endosonography at postoperative follow-up for low rectal cancer.

Anorectal complications in long-term Crohn's disease are frequent and evaluation of inflammatory changes in the lower pelvic region is difficult. We report a case of phlegmonous gastritis in a 36-year-old man presenting with anorexia, epigastralgia, and high fever. Endoscopy showed an edematous lesion suggesting a submucosal lesion.
