Topical imiquimod is commonly used in the nonsurgical management of actinic keratosis and superficial basal cell carcinoma. The case of a 6-year-old boy with multiple, target-shaped lesions and a crusted nodule on his right index finger is presented. Based on clinical findings and the patient's recent contact with sheep and goats, a diagnosis of orf disease associated with erythema multiforme was suspected. Microscopy studies confirmed the presence of parapoxvirus in the primary lesion. Orf-induced erythema multiforme is a rare complication of orf in children, possibly related to the presence of orf virus DNA in erythema multiforme lesions.

There is a well-known correlation between Herpes simplex (HSV) infection and erythema multiforme (EM). More recently, in Japan, it was found that Chlamydia pneumoniae (Cp) may promote the development of EM. All cases of Cp infection-associated EM that had been diagnosed in our clinic over the past two years (from 2011 to 2012) were analyzed. Etoricoxib is a new, highly selective cyclooxygenase (COX) 2 inhibitor, reported to have an increased cutaneous and systemic safety profile compared to the previous COX-2 inhibitors, including celecoxib, rofecoxib and valdecoxib. To the best of our knowledge, the present case of etoricoxib-induced erythema-multiforme-like eruption is the first reported in the literature.

Candesartan cilexetil is an angiotensin II receptor antagonist that is widely used in the treatment of hypertension. It is generally well to … brinous exudate on the right upper lip. Findings from a biopsy of the upper lip were diagnostic for erythema multiforme. Treatment with candesartan cilexetil was discontinued, and the lesions resolved completely within a few weeks. To our knowledge, this is the first report of erythema multiforme induced by the antihypertensive medication candesartan cilexetil.
