PURPOSE: To investigate physiological and histologic alterations of the cat eye in response to cyclocryotherapy (CCT) and noncontact transscleral Nd:YAG laser cyclophotocoagulation (TSNYC).
METHODS: One eye of 29 cats was treated with 12 applications (1 minute, -80 degrees C) of CCT or 80 applications of noncontact TSNYC (7 to 9 J, retrofocus 3.6 mm). This study was designed to determine the activity of bremazocine (BRE), a relatively selective kappa opioid receptor agonist, on intraocular pressure (IOP), aqueous humor formation and pupil diameter (PD) in conscious, normal, dark-adapted New Zealand white (NZW) rabbits. IOP was measured in normal and unilaterally sympathectomized rabbits using a calibrated pneumatonometer and the aqueous flow rate was determined by the use of a Fluorotron Master. PURPOSE: To assess the effects of dorzolamide hydrochloride, a topical carbonic anhydrase inhibitor, on corneal endothelial function.
METHODS: The authors measured the rate of corneal deswelling and the endothelial permeability to fluorescein after 2 hours of hypoxic contact lens wear in 19 normal human subjects.
