OBJECTIVE: To study long-term follow up result of fibula transplantation to reconstruct partial or complete defect of the heel.
METHODS: Heel defects were reconstructed by means of reverse transferring of combined vascular pedicled fibulaflap. The calcaneus was repaired by two segments of the fibula. Skin defects were covered by skin flap, and sensation was restored by anastomosing the sural nerve and medial pedal nerve. The residual cavity was filled by muscles surrounding the fibula to reconstruct the appearance of foot.

This study assessed the use of sural neurocutaneous flaps to repair chronic ulcers in difficult-to-cover areas around the ankle and heel. Follow-up of the 14 patients included in this study ranged from 6 months to 3 years after their operation. Total flap loss occurred in two patients, both of whom had rheumatoid arthritis complicated by vasculitis. Partial flap loss occurred in three patients; all were heel ulcers. Primary cutaneous cribriform carcinoma (PCCC) is an extremely rare carcinoma of the sweat glands. In this case report, we present a 41-year-old man with PCCC in the heel. The patient had heel pain for 10 months, and his complaints had increased in the past 2 months. Physical examination revealed a firm nonmobile mass at his heel. The PCCC in the heel was excised by wide resection after biopsy, and the defect that occurred after resection was reconstructed with a vascularized free anterolateral thigh flap. Increasing annular calcification portends more adverse outcomes and worse hemodynamic results following percutaneous structural heart interventions. Though the Direct Flow prosthesis did not appear to have significantly different post-procedural gradients based on aortic valve calcium burden in a selected group of patients, the average residual gradients were relatively high in all cases and the presence of a paravalvular leak was more common with increasing valvular calcification. It is unclear how the Direct Flow prosthesis fits into the armamentarium of TAVR prostheses.

Reverse flow sural flap (RFSF) and vacuum sealing drainage (VSD) have been used to cover soft tissue defects in the heels of children in medical emergency settings.
