A comparative study of glucose-6-phosphatase, alcaline RNase, ATPase, inosine diphosphatase and 5'-nucleotidase activities in isolated rat liver and hepatoma-27 nuclei and nuclear envelopes was performed. The tumor nuclear membranes were shown to be free from G-6-Pase activity in contrast to the liver nuclear membranes. Inosiplex has been utilized in the treatment of subacute sclerosing panencephalitis (SSPE), though without unequivocally established beneficial effect. We report a patient whose computerized tomographic (CT) scans demonstrated the development of progressive cerebral atrophy and multifocal white matter lesions despite continuous treatment with inosiplex and periods of considerable clinical improvement or stabilization. The efficacy of inosine pranobex, an antiviral/immunomodulator agent, remains controversial. Catabolites of purine nucleotides were measured in the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) of newborn infants with sepsis, seizures and hydrocephalus using isocratic reversed-phase HPLC. Medical therapy of genital condylomatosis seems to be the most rational strategy, since this pathology is characterised by highly frequent recurrences after destructive physical therapy alone. Successful therapy of female genital condylomatosis with methisoprinol (Viruxan), administered as ointment and/or vaginal ovules is reported. The drug proved to be efficient both in curing this viral infection and preventing its recurrences.
