Scrotal calculi are uncommon, benign stones that typically form within the hydrocele sac, often due to chronic inflammation, minor trauma, or torsion of the appendix testis, and are incidentally detected during imaging or surgery. Although rare, scrotal calculi have been reported to occur in specific groups, such as athletes, who experience repetitive mechanical stress. A 56-year-old diabetic male presented with a two-year history of painless scrotal swelling. The swelling is not associated with any trauma. On physical examination, the swelling transilluminated, and an ultrasound revealed an 8

We report a case of lithiasis of the left ectopic pelvic kidney. A 70-year-old man was admitted to our department for left lower back pain. He has been aware of gross hematuria since three or four years before. Computed tomography demonstrated the left ectopic pelvic kidney with a 16-mm stone and a 5-mm stone in the renal pelvis which was accompanied by hydronephrosis. Ten days later, the renal pelvic stones moved to the renal calices and the symptoms disappeared. Though a pyeloureteral junction obstruction was not evident, renogram showed a obstruction pattern of the left kidney. He had been …

Real time gray scale ultrasonography of upper abdomen was carried out in 1237 cases for varied indications. Overall prevalence of biliary lithiasis was 11.56% with female to male ratio of 4:1. Fifty years and below, female to male ratio was 6.5:1. 88.8% cases of biliary lithiasis were 60 years and below. Gall bladder dyspepsia (61.5%) and right upper quadrant pain (41%) were the main presenting features of biliary lithiasis. 26 patients (18%) presented with acute abdomen. Asymptomatic gallstones were found in 25 (17.5%) cases. Solitary calculus was less common than multiple calculi with a rati…

Urethral diverticula in men are uncommon clinical entities. Their clinical manifestations include urinary tract infection, hematuria, irritative or obstructive voiding symptoms, ventral bulging and displacement of the penile shaft. Male urethral diverticulum with massive lithiasis presenting as a scrotal mass with stress urinary incontinence as the main symptom is extremely rare. Herein, we present such a case.

OBJECTIVES: The relationship between hyperparathyroidism and lithiasis is quite known, so the study of parathyroid glands is especially mandatory in the face of relapses. Our objective is to analyze both primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) associated with renal lithiasis and the evolution of this condition after parathyroidectomy, as well as to study factors associated with the presence of lithiasis or bone pathology, and carry out a review on bibliography.
METHODS: We describe a retrospective study of a series comprising 287 cases of hyperparathyroidism: 237 of them were primary and the remai…

Hepatobiliary ultrasound was carried out on 2224 consecutive patients at the Center for Nuclear Medicine and Ultrasound and at one private diagnostic center in Mymensingh for ultrasound examination of different systems. The purpose of this study was to investigate the prevalence of biliary ascariasis and its association with other biliary diseases, specially biliary lithiasis. Data regarding the presence of stone, worm or other diseases were recorded accordingly in this prospective study. There were 952 male and 1272 female patients with an age range of 5-90 years. Biliary diseases were detect…

OBJECTIVE: To describe an uncommon case of iatrogenic bladder lithiasis in a female patient who underwent colposuspension according to the Burch technique.
METHODS/RESULTS: A female patient who had undergone colposuspension for urinary stress incontinence presented with irritative bladder symptoms and dyspareunia two years later. Patient evaluation revealed stone formation on the nonresorbable suture. Stone removal was achieved endoscopically using local anesthesia and without compromising continence.
CONCLUSION: Removal of the calculus that had formed on the suture was achieved by endoscopy…

This is a survey paper assaying the relevance of clinical and laboratory data, and other conventional and currently used methods as well, and their precision in detecting concretions in the biliary apparatus, namely: endoscopic echography, magnetic resonance imaging, ERCP, PTH, CT etc. To increase the rate of concrement demonstration the diagnostic process should proceed intraoperatively by resorting to cholangiography, echography, choledochoscopy and the like. Nonoperative and operative methods of treatment are discussed, with the indications for nonoperative ones (endoscopic, extracorporeal

The authors report a case of Mirizzi's syndrome that was the cause of intrahepatic lithiasis. The recurrence of acute episodes of cholecystitis may lead to a partial obstruction of hepato-choledochal duct through compression and phlogosis (Type 1 Mirizzi's syndrome); moreover, the compression of calculous material wedged in the cystic duct may also result in ischemic necrosis of the wall, thus causing a cholecystic-choledochal internal biliary fistula (Type 2 Mirizzi's syndrome). The authors analyse problems relating to the complications of gallbladder calculosis with indications for surgery a…

Transduodenal sphincterotomy used to be was a common procedure when the surgeon couldn't remove stones from the terminal choledochus. We treated 6 patients in whom instead of a sphincterotomy, the stone was left in place and the duct drained with a T-tube. The first three cases were so managed because an emergency left no other option in the other three the decision was elective. Operative cholangiographies showed the impacted stones and in the postoperative cholangiographies, the stones had passed down to the stones had moved upward because of the decompression with the T-tube. The problem in
