In three patients an aneurysmal bone cyst occurring in a metacarpal was treated by excising the involved bone and substituting bone grafts. There was no evidence of recurrence in 1, 3, and 8 years of follow-up. In two patients with open epiphyses, growth of the metacarpal was not impaired.

By 115 arthrographies of the wrist in patients with posttraumatic pain, the importance of the method for diagnosis in injured patients is discussed. It was possible to detect 29 cases with a lesion of the articular disc, 4 patients with ruptured radiocarpal joint and 3 cases with an injury of the distal radioulnar joint. The technique of filling the wrist is described and different manifestations of "normal" arthrogramms are exhibited.

OBJECTIVE: The aim of our study was to collect data on complementary feeding (CF) in preterm infants (PIs).
METHODS: We enrolled PI ≤ 34 weeks of gestational age discharged from the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) of the University Hospital of Padova. At 12 months of corrected age (CA), CF was investigated with questionnaires to the parents and a 24-h dietary recall. In a subgroup of newborns, we also evaluated bone status at a CA of 12 months using quantitative ultrasound.

Three-dimensional models were constructed for the human upper central incisor (1205 nodes and 920 elements) and the sheep metacarpus (240 nodes and 128 elements). During the period 1971-76, 1055 patients with fresh burns were treated at our hospital. Of these, 461 (88 females, 373 males) had sustained burns on altogether 783 hands. This amounts to 45% of the total number of fresh burns. In 322 cases both hands were involved, amounting to 31% of all cases of fresh burns, or 70% of all patients with burned hands. Whereas 82% of patients with hand burns had injuries to both hands, only 10% had sustained an injury to the right hand alone and 8% to the left hand alone.
