[The positional specificity of individual triglycerides-substrates for lipase action. The oleic triglycerides of palm oil, palmitic triglycerides of milk, ions of calcium and magnesium.].

The counter-insulin effect of surplus of palmitic fatty acid in food is implemented under: a) formation in vivo of palmitic type of fatty acids metabolism with deficiency of substrate for ATP synthesis and permanent shortage of energy for accomplishment of biologic functions; b) compensatory activation of biologic function of adaptation, biologic reaction of compensation. The activation with catecholamines in visceral fatty cells of gland the hormone-dependent lipase which is not blocking insulin, increases content of unesterified fatty acids in blood plasma. Until in blood plasma the level of

PKC-δ-dependent mitochondrial ROS attenuation is involved as 9-OAHSA combats lipoapotosis in rat hepatocytes induced by palmitic acid and in Syrian hamsters induced by high-fat high-cholesterol high-fructose diet.

Metabolic-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) is a global concern, often undetected until reaching an advanced stage. Palmitic acid (PA) is a type of fatty acid that increases and leads to liver apoptosis in MAFLD. However, there is currently no approved therapy or compound for MAFLD. Recently, branched fatty acid esters of hydroxy fatty acids (FAHFAs), a group of bioactive lipids, have emerged as promising agents to treat associated metabolic diseases. This study utilizes one type of FAHFA, oleic acid ester of 9-hydroxystearic acid (9-OAHSA), to treat PA-induced lipoapoptosis in an in vitr

Clustering effects on postprandial insulin secretion and sensitivity in response to meals with different fatty acid compositions.

Dietary fatty acids play a role in glucose homeostasis. The aim of this study was to assess the individual relationship between dietary saturated (SFA), monounsaturated (MUFA) and polyunsaturated (PUFA) fatty acids with postprandial β-cell function and insulin sensitivity in subjects with normal and high fasting triglycerides. We assessed postprandial β-cell function (by the insulinogenic index and the ratio of the insulin to glucose areas under the time-concentration curve) and insulin sensitivity (by the oral glucose and the minimal model insulin sensitivity indices) over four nonconsecutive

[The becoming of reactions of lipolysis in phylogenesis. The palmitic and oleic triglycerides as substrates. Insulin, condition of normolipemia and formation of hyper lipoproteinemia type IIb, IV and V].

According to phylogenetic theory of general pathology, when living in ocean all were carnivorous (piscivorous) fatty acids transferring to cells in form of non-polar triglycerides nitially began apoB-48 chylomicrons, continued lipoproteins of very low and low density and fnalized its apoB-100 endocytosis. The fatty acids are transferred by chylomicrons + lipoproteins of very low density + lipoproteins of low density and non-polar triglycerides are hydrolyzed by hepatic glycerolhydrogenase and co-enzyme apoC-III; according WHO classifcation, hyperlipoproteinemia corresponds to type V. On land,

[Effect of thyrotoxicosis on lipid fatty acid composition in various subcellular fractions of the rat brain].

Thyrotoxicosis, which developed after subcutaneous administration of L-thyroxin at a dose of 400 micrograms/100 g of body mass, was accompanied by distinct alteration of fatty acid composition in lipids of adult rat brain myelin, synaptosomes, mitochondria and microsomes. The most significant alterations were detected in synaptosomes and mitochondria. Under conditions of thyrotoxicosis the ratio of polyunsaturated docosahexaenic and docosatetraenic acids was decreased in synaptosome lipids, whereas the content of palmitic, oleic and neuronic acids was increased. The ratio of unsaturated arachi

Interrelation of fatty acid composition in adipose tissue, serum, and liver of dairy cows during the development of fatty liver postpartum.

We investigated the composition of fatty acids in adipose tissue, serum, and liver of cows that were fed at restricted energy intake or were overfed during the dry period. Overfed cows had higher concentrations of serum nonesterified fatty acids and consequently accumulated greater amounts of triacylglycerols in the liver than did cows that were fed at restricted energy intake. The percentages of the different fatty acids present in adipose tissue were similar for both groups and did not change during sampling intervals. Before parturition, concentrations of the individual fatty acids present

Effects of fatty acids on the growth and composition of Malassezia pachydermatis and their relevance to canine otitis externa.

Malassezia pachydermatis is one of the many infective agents involved in canine otitis externa. Two major phenotypes (large and small colony types), which had different fatty acid compositions, were found among strains of M pachydermatis isolated from canine ears or skin. The large-colony type contained palmitic, stearic, oleic and linoleic acids, whereas the small-colony type contained myristic, palmitic, stearic, linoleic acids and five other unidentified fatty acids. Exogenous saturated fatty acids in the medium had no effect on the growth of a large colony strain but oleic and linoleic aci

The transfer of myristic and other fatty acids on lipid and viral protein acceptors in cultured cells infected with Semliki Forest and influenza virus.

[3H]Myristic and [3H]palmitic acid were compared as tracers for the fatty acylation of cellular lipids and viral glycoproteins in chicken embryo cells infected with fowl plague and Semliki Forest virus (SFV). Both of these substrates are incorporated into glycerolipids to a similar extent, whereas sphingolipids show much higher levels of palmitate than myristate after a 20 h labeling period. Both fatty acid species were found to be subject to metabolic conversions into longer chain fatty acids yielding 11.7% C16:0 from [3H]myristic and 11.8% C18:0 from [3H]palmitic acid. The reverse, a metabol

IgM-mediated autoimmune responses directed against multiple neoepitopes in depression: new pathways that underpin the inflammatory and neuroprogressive pathophysiology.

BACKGROUND: There is evidence that depression is accompanied by oxidative and nitrosative stress (O&NS), as indicated by increased free radical levels, lipid peroxidation, and lowered antioxidant levels. The aims of the present study are to examine whether depression is accompanied by autoimmune responses directed against a) neoepitopes that are formed following O&NS damage; and b) the major anchorage molecules, i.e. palmitic and myristic acids and S-farnesyl-L-cysteine. METHODS: We examined serum IgM antibodies to the conjugated fatty acids, palmitic and myristic acids; acetylcholine; S-farn

Cellular fatty acid composition of Kingella species, Cardiobacterium hominis, and Eikenella corrodens.

We determined the cellular fatty acid composition of reference strains and clinical isolates of each of the three Kingella species, Cardiobacterium hominis, and Eikenella corrodens by using capillary gas chromatography. Kingella denitrificans and Kingella kingae contained myristic (14:0) and palmitic (16:0) acids as major acids, whereas cis-vaccenic (18:1 omega 7c) and palmitic acids were the major acids in Kingella indologenes, C. hominis, and E. corrodens. C. hominis differed from the other four species by the absence of 3-hydroxylauric (3-OH-12:0) acid, from K. indologenes by the presence o…

Uptake and metabolism of long chain fatty acids in isolated chicken intestinal epithelial cells.

The uptake and metabolism of long chain fatty acids in isolated mucosal cells from chicken small intestine are studied. The viability of the isolated enterocytes is proven by linear oxygen consumption, CO2 and lactate formation form glucose and the active transport of glucose. The transport of palmitic and oleic acid is mediated by passive diffusion. This is demonstrated by the following results: (1) no saturation kinetics in the concentration range of 0.1--10.0 mM; (2) no competitive inhibition of the uptake by structurally related compounds; (3) no influence of 2,4-DNP and cyanide of the upt

Melatonin rescues 3T3-L1 adipocytes from FFA-induced insulin resistance by inhibiting phosphorylation of IRS-1 on Ser307.

Melatonin is biosynthesized in the pineal gland and secreted into the bloodstream. Evidences indicate a role of melatonin in the regulation of glucose metabolism. The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of melatonin on insulin sensitivity in insulin resistant adipocytes. Following a preincubation with melatonin or vehicle for 30 min, insulin resistant cells of 3T3-L1 adipocytes were induced by palmitic acids (300 μM, 6 h). Our results showed that palmitic acids inhibited both the basal and insulin-stimulated uptake of [(3)H]-2-Deoxyglucose, down-regulated the levels of IRS-1 …
