In gambling, distorted expectations and preferences towards outcomes are associated with significant social and clinical harms. BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Single-incision laparoscopic cholecystectomy (SILC) is gradually being adopted into general surgical practice. The potential risks and benefits are still being studied, and little is known about how patients perceive this new surgical technique.
METHODS: After providing patients with basic educational materials on laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC) and SILC, we administered a questionnaire exploring patients' perspectives of the importance of postoperative pain, scar appearance, risk of complications, and cost regarding their preference for SILC versus LC.

The current study compares hazard perception (HP) performance of 50 male drivers with and without a motorcycle license in order to generalize results. A video-based HP test, measuring reaction times to traffic scenes, was administered to these two groups of drivers. Participants with a motorcycle license performed better than participants without a motorcycle license. Investigation of heroin addict patients in post-abstinent state revealed that low mood, anxiety, tension and guilt feeling increased sensitivity toward pain, which mostly experienced as algetic, coenestetick and hypochondriacal sensations. Algetic symptoms highly correlated with psychopathology. Efficient treatment of psychopathological symptoms decreased pain. Using an attentional blink paradigm, we show that the typical enhancement of perception for emotionally arousing events is significantly reduced in Asperger's syndrome (AS) at short inter-target intervals. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Radiologists interpreting screening mammography examinations completed a mailed survey consisting of questions pertaining to demographic and clinical practice characteristics, as well as 2 vignettes describing different risk profiles of women.
