Pure ovarian choriocarcinoma is an extremely rare malignancy that can be gestational or non-gestational in origin. Silver-Russell syndrome (SRS) is a rare congenital developmental disorder characterized by pre- and postnatal growth failure, relative macrocephaly, a triangular face, hemihypotrophy, and fifth-finger clinodactyly. We report a rare case of pure ovarian choriocarcinoma occurring in a 19-year-old woman with SRS. Following surgery, multiple chemotherapy courses were effective and she was free of disease at the 10-month follow-up.

Epistaxis from the anterior septum is frequently treated with a topical application of silver nitrate, which cauterizes the bleeding vessel. Dot-immunogold-silver staining (Dot-IGSS) and Dot-ELISA were used, with Taenia solium cyst fluid antigen, to detect specific antibodies in the sera of patients with cysticercosis. All 40 confirmed cases of cysticercosis were found to be positive when tested by 2 methods. The average titer of the sera detected by Dot-IGSS was 1:27,470, which was significantly higher than that detected by Dot-ELISA. The false positive rates were 2% and 4% in 50 healthy controls for Dot-IGSS and Dot-ELISA, respectively, with a low titer of 1:20.

Russell-Silver syndrome, a syndrome of unknown etiology, is characterized by short stature of prenatal onset, triangular facies, asymmetry, variations in the pattern of sexual development, and other abnormalities, such as cafe-au-lait pigmentation, clinodactyly, and dental and oral abnormalities. We report three cases of Russell-Silver syndrome, all of which had dental anomalies. The clinical features of the syndrome are discussed.
