A patient with a painful, blind eye underwent enucleation and bioceramic orbital implantation. The bio-ceramic implant was wrapped with polyglactin 910 mesh and anteriorly capped with a scleral patch graft. We present a case report in which spinal cord stimulator trial lead became lodged in the posterior lumbar soft tissue. The lead could not be removed even with moderate force or with spine in the flexed position. Radiologic evaluation revealed that edge of metallic lead was wedged into the soft tissue. We were able to remove the lead only after placing the patient in an extreme tuck position (knee-to-chest); thus possibly avoiding surgical intervention.

We report a rare case of late femoral interference screw migration in the posterior compartment of the knee after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction. The graft was intact with no signs of damage. The screw was successfully removed through the posteromedial portal site and the patient regained full function of the knee.

Ileal penetration by a copper-bearing intrauterine device (IUD) is a rare but serious potential complication. This paper reports the case of a 30-year-old gravida 4 para 3 woman with ileal embedding by an IUD. Laparoscopy was performed on the patient 4 months after the insertion of the IUD. When the tail of the IUD was seen during laparoscopy protruding outside the small bowel, the device was removed through a 1-cm incision in the ileum by laparotomy. This report demonstrates a rare case of ileal embedding of an IUD.

We describe a case of small bowel obstruction due to prosthetic mesh migration. A 67-year-old male, who had undergone prosthetic repair of inguinal hernia 3 years before, was admitted for a mechanical small bowel obstruction. The experience of pacemakers use in 24 children aged 6-15 years in the treatment of arrhythmias and conduction disturbances (CD) were summarized. Surgical intervention is indicated when a medical history of syncope or severe hemodynamic disturbances is present. In order to achieve a high quality of life of the child with arrhythmias and CD it is essential to use up-to-date pacemaker models with 2-chamber stimulation, frequency modulation, telemetry and prolonged expiry term.

A 56-year-old man and a 70-year-old woman, with histories of left colectomy and appendectomy respectively, were admitted to our hospital. In both cases, colonoscopy showed a pedunculated colonic polyp in the ascending colon, and a silk suture became visible in the stalk during polypectomy. The histological diagnosis was adenoma. These two cases constitute the first report of colonic adenomatous polyps accompanied by suture migration.

Expandable metallic stents have become popular in recent years for the treatment of esophageal strictures. While they are undoubtedly of great value in the palliation of malignant strictures and tracheo-esophageal fistulas, there is concern over their use for the treatment of benign diseases. Kirschner wire (K-wire) fixation of fractures and dislocations of the hand and wrist is a common procedure. Of the 590 K-wire fixations performed on 236 patients, 36 (15.2%) experienced complications which included osteomyelitis, tendon rupture, nerve lesion, pin tract infection, pin loosening or migration. A 74-year-old man presented with a 9-month history of recurrent hemoptysis. He had implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) patch electrodes placed 4 years before. A chest x-ray film showed crinkling of his posteriorly placed ICD patch which also appeared to have separated from his ventricle on a CT scan of the chest.
