Injury incidence rates of cyclists compared to pedestrians, car occupants and powered two-wheeler riders, using a medical registry and mobility data, Rhône County, France.

PURPOSE: In France, the bicycle's modal share is stabilizing after a decline; in some of France's major cities, it has even increased since the 1990s. It is hence relevant to improve the knowledge of the injury risk associated with cycling, compared with other means of transport such as car, walking and powered two-wheeler (PTW) riding. METHODS: The injury incidence rates were estimated by the ratio between accident data and mobility (exposure) data. Two accident data sources were used: police data and hospital-based data (outpatients and inpatients) from the Rhône road trauma Registry. This

Crash-type heterogeneity and cross-year transfer stability in injury severity modeling.

OBJECTIVES: To compare crash-type differences in injury severity factors across car-car (CC), motorcycle/electric bicycle-vehicle (MR), and pedestrian-vehicle (PV) crashes, examine whether risk-factor associations vary across years, and evaluate later-year predictive performance and probability calibration. METHODS: Using 5,185 crashes from the China National Automobile Accident In-Depth Investigation System (NAIS) for 2018-2022, this study first tested heterogeneity across the three crash types and assessed temporal variation using predictor-by-year tests with Benjamini-Hochberg adjustment.

Factors influencing the severity of road traffic accident injuries among pedestrians in Thailand: a national-level analysis.

OBJECTIVES: Road traffic accidents are one of the leading causes of injury and death compared to other causes. Pedestrians are highly vulnerable when they use the roads. When involved in road traffic accidents, pedestrians may experience dangerous, potentially fatal impacts when they are involved in road traffic accidents. Therefore, identifying risk factors and ways to prevent these accidents involving pedestrians is extremely important. We sought to identify the factors influencing the severity of road traffic accident injuries among pedestrians in Thailand according to the Safe System Appro

Occult bladder injury in low displacement anterior-posterior compression pelvic fractures type I: a retrospective analysis of incidence and predictors.

BACKGROUND: Pelvic ring injuries are frequently associated with genitourinary trauma, particularly bladder injury, traditionally considered proportional to fracture displacement. Minimally displaced anterior-posterior compression (APC I) fractures are often regarded as low risk. However, high-energy trauma may cause significant soft-tissue injury even when skeletal displacement is minimal. This study evaluated the incidence, characteristics, and outcomes of bladder injury in minimally displaced APC I fractures and identified associated risk factors, including dynamic instability. METHODS: We

Qualitative Insights on Client and Provider Barriers and Facilitators to Using a Novel Online HIV Pre- and Post-Exposure Delivery Model in Kenya.

INTRODUCTION: Online delivery of HIV pre- and post-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP and PEP) could address persistent access barriers, yet implementation across Africa remains limited. The ePrEP Kenya Pilot (NCT05377138) integrated PrEP and PEP services into an existing e-pharmacy platform and identified client- and provider-level barriers and facilitators to use. METHODS: In the pilot, clinicians screened adults (age 18+) in Nairobi and Mombasa Counties for PrEP and PEP eligibility via telehealth; pharmaceutical technologists courier-delivered HIV testing services (including self-testing) and disp

HIV-related stigma and its association with HIV transmission risk behaviors among boda boda motorcyclists in Mbarara Municipality, southwestern Uganda.

Background: Key populations have a disproportionate burden of HIV compared with the general population. HIV-related stigma has been recognized as a major barrier to HIV prevention and treatment efforts. It remains unclear whether HIV-related stigma is a significant driver of HIV transmission risk behavior among boda boda (motorcycle taxi) riders, a key population in Uganda. Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional study among boda boda motorcyclists in Mbarara Municipality of southwestern Uganda. Using multistage sampling, we recruited participants aged 18-59 years who had been riding for at le

First MTP joint instability - Expanding the concept of "Turf-toe" injuries.

BACKGROUND: Although the classic definition of the Turf-toe injury refers to a very specific clinical and pathological picture, we think that the concept can be broadened to encompass a wide variety of traumatic lesions of the first metatarsophalangeal joint (MTP1). These are lesions typically difficult to diagnose, with a large variation of outcomes and a potential to impair patients' functional performance on a definitive and perennial basis. The objective of this study is to present the result obtained by treating 24 cases of traumatic injuries to the MTP1 joint in a midterm follow-up time.
