From a morphogenetic point of view, the mental foramen of the mandible is a highly suitable model to study the interactions of different tissues such as nerves, vessels, mesenchymal cells, cartilage, and bone. In previous work, we provided a three-dimensional description of the mental foramen at different developmental stages, and now we complement those studies with a three-dimensional visualization of different bone remodeling activities around the mental foramen. Histological serial sections of human embryos and fetuses, ranging in size from 25 to 117 mm crown-rump-length (CRL), were used t

Because of the medical characteristics of this inheritable disorder, the treatment of these patients can be fraught with potential pitfalls. Oral manifestations can include taurodontism of the pulp chambers, retrognathia, palatal constriction with attendant posterior crossbite, frontal tongue posturing, and mouth breathing relating to airway restriction from choanal atresia. The authors describe their treatment of a patient three years of age with a tracheostomy.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the predictability of Invisalign in producing transverse dental arch expansion in permanent dentition and to identify clinical and methodological factors influencing expansion accuracy.
METHODS: A systematic search of PubMed, Embase, Scopus, and WOS (up to November 2025) identified clinical studies reporting planned and achieved expansion. Predictability was defined as the achieved-to-planned expansion ratio and synthesized as logit-transformed proportions in random-effects meta-analyses. Tooth-group-specific pooled estimates were calculated for each arch. Meta-regressi

OBJECTIVE: To develop a machine-learning-based model and construct a nomogram that integrates ClinCheck features and clinical risk factors for accurately predicting open gingival embrasures (OGE) between mandibular central incisors after clear aligner treatment (CAT).
METHODS: A total of 297 patients (163 normal and 134 with OGE) who underwent Invisalign® treatment were enrolled. A ClinCheck model was developed based on predicted OGE-area in the final step from initial ClinCheck treatment plan. Twenty-three clinical features were extracted from electronic medical records and ClinCheck tooth m

Introduction: Dentigerous cysts are the second most prevalent type of odontogenic cyst, following radicular cysts, and are primarily associated with impacted teeth. These cysts are most commonly associated with impacted third molars and canines. Notably, approximately 5% of dentigerous cysts are found in conjunction with supernumerary teeth, predominantly mesiodens. Between 1964 and April 2025, only about 51 cases of dentigerous cysts related to impacted mesiodens have been reported in the literature. This article presents three additional cases, accompanied by a concise literature review. Cas

INTRODUCTION: Dental caries is the most common chronic disease worldwide, and various forms of fluoride are considered useful preventive tools. The production of nanoscale materials can significantly improve their mechanical and chemical properties. The present study compared the microhardness of primary tooth enamel after applying sodium fluoride varnish (conventional) and nano-sodium fluoride varnish.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Sixty-eight sound canine teeth were selected in this experimental study. The teeth were mounted so that the buccal surface was exposed. A 3 × 3 mm square was obtained on

CASE SERIES SUMMARY: This report summarises and reviews the published cases of open-mouth jaw locking in cats and describes three further cases. Case 1 was a 5-year-old, 5.3 kg male neutered domestic shorthair cat. CT identified changes consistent with temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dysplasia with osseous degenerative changes, and the cat subsequently underwent bilateral partial zygomectomy with bilateral partial coronoidectomy. Case 2 was a 10-year-old, 6.0 kg male neutered Exotic Shorthair. Aside from a fracture of the left maxillary canine tooth crown and absence of the left maxillary fourth…

BACKGROUND: Root resorption may be physiological or pathological. Physiological resorption occurs in deciduous teeth to allow replacement by permanent successors. In permanent dentition, resorption is pathological and classified as external (ERR) or internal (IRR), depending on its origin. IRR begins within the root canal and may lead to progressive dentin destruction. Although often asymptomatic, advanced cases may present as a pink discoloration of the crown, known as Pink Tooth of Mummery (PTM). To review current scientific evidence regarding the etiology, pathogenesis, classification, diag

BACKGROUND In endodontically-treated anterior teeth, prognosis depends on remaining tooth structure and restorative material. This in vitro study evaluated how ferrule presence and material type affect the fracture resistance of CAD/CAM endocrowns in maxillary central incisors. MATERIAL AND METHODS Forty extracted maxillary central incisors were randomly divided into 4 groups (n=10 each group): Ferrule (+) e.max, Ferrule (-) e.max, Ferrule (+) Celtra Duo, and Ferrule (-) Celtra Duo. Standardized endocrowns were fabricated using CAD/CAM technology and cemented with a dual-cure adhesive resin ce

BACKGROUND: Many practitioners have questioned whether the construction method of pediatric zirconia crowns impacts the periodontal health and clinical performance of severely decayed primary molars. The objective of this study was to compare the periodontal health and clinical performance of primary molars restored with custom-made zirconia crowns (CZCs) and prefabricated zirconia crowns.
METHODS: Twenty primary molars indicated for crown restorations were selected from ten patients (5-9 years old) randomly. Each patient received two pediatric zirconia crowns constructed by two different met

Advances in computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing (CAD-CAM) technologies and adhesives have enabled the use of endocrowns as an effective and conservative treatment option for restoring endodontically treated teeth in pediatric populations. Thus, this case report presents the treatment of a severely damaged premolar tooth with coronal pulpotomy and a 3D-printed endocrown restoration. A 13-year-old patient with pain due to profound caries in the left maxillary second premolar tooth was referred to the Department of Pediatric Dentistry at Gazi University in Ankara, Türkiye. Our aim was to describe the postoperative morbidity related to secondary wound healing after coronectomy. Ten of 116 patients treated by coronectomy healed by second intention as a result of failed sutures. We made a retrospective analysis after two years to evaluate the postoperative morbidity related to secondary wound healing. The complete closure of the alveolus of the 10 surgical sites was recorded three months after coronectomy. No patients had postoperative infections, dry socket, or pulpitis. All patients were free of symptoms, the retained roots were completely included, and were not
