Predictive Modeling of Preoperative Sleep Disorder Risk in Older Adults by Using Data From Wearable Monitoring Devices: Prospective Cohort Study.

BACKGROUND: Sleep disorders are common among older adults undergoing surgery and contribute significantly to postoperative complications, delayed recovery, and higher health care costs. The combined effects of age-related physiological changes and surgical stress further disrupt sleep in this vulnerable group. However, current tools for predicting surgical risk rarely account for the specific physiological, clinical, and psychological factors that affect older patients. While wearable devices are used to monitor sleep, most prediction models focus on general sleep quality in nonsurgical popula

[Disordered eating behaviors and eating disorders among athletes II.].

Over the past two and a half decades, a substantial shift has occurred in the understanding of disordered eating and eating disorders among athletes. Research has gradually moved beyond the concept of the female athlete triad towards the model of relative energy deficiency in sport (REDs), which recognizes low energy availability as a key factor affecting both athletes' health and performance. The aim of this study is to review the international literature published between 2000 and 2025 on disordered eating and eating disorders in athletes, with particular emphasis on prevalence, the contempo

Duration of untreated illness in eating disorders: a comprehensive systematic review and meta-regression.

INTRODUCTION: Eating disorders (EDs) substantially impair physical health, psychological well-being, and social functioning. Shorter untreated illness duration has been proposed to be associated with better outcomes, though evidence for this relationship remains mixed. Nonetheless, delays in accessing treatment remain common and contribute to prolonged suffering and risk of lasting harm. This study aimed to estimate the duration of untreated eating disorder (DUED) and examine potential moderators. METHODS: A PRISMA 2020-compliant systematic review and meta-analysis was conducted. Better at what cost? The contrasting effect of norm feedback on exercise behaviours and body image.

Descriptive norm feedback informing people they have performed below average on an exercise task can motivate improvements in their subsequent performance and exertion. However, no research has examined whether such feedback has concurrent negative effects. We addressed this in a pre-registered lab experiment. Participants (N = 120) completed a brief no-equipment exercise workout twice. Prior to and during Trial 2, participants either received no feedback (control condition) or feedback that their Trial 1 performance was 30% below (high norm condition) or 30% above (low norm condition) the ave

Understanding the dynamics: nexus between servant leadership, symbiotic diversity, identity related process and personnel behaviors.

BACKGROUND: Based on the social exchange theory, this study examines how servant leadership influences the nursing staff's job-related outcomes by fostering perceived member status and interpersonal coordination. Precisely, the study investigates the mediating mechanism of perceived member status and interpersonal coordination in the relationship between servant leadership and job-related outcomes, i.e., job execution, psychological safety, and institutional identification. The study further explores the moderating role of a symbiotic diversity setting (SDS) between servant leadership, perceiv

Depression Mediates the Association Between Ambient Air Pollution and Gastrointestinal/Liver Diseases: A Prospective Cohort Study.

BACKGROUND: The escalating burden of gastrointestinal (GI) and liver diseases poses a critical public health challenge, with emerging evidence implicating air pollution as a modifiable risk factor. However, the mechanistic pathways, particularly the mediating role of depression in the pollution-disease nexus, remain underexplored. This study investigates the longitudinal associations between ambient air pollution exposure and GI/liver diseases in a nationwide cohort, with a focus on quantifying depression's mediating effects. METHODS: Utilizing data from the China Health and Retirement Longit

BACKGROUND: Post-Acute Sequelae of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection (PASC) is characterized by persistent and heterogeneous symptoms that impair health-related quality of life (HRQoL). Although several studies have identified symptom subgroups in Western populations using person-centered approaches, data on Asian populations remain limited. OBJECTIVES: In this study, we aimed to classify the symptom profiles of Korean adults with PASC using latent profile analysis (LPA) and examine the differences in HRQoL and associated factors between the identified pro

Modern Determinants of Earlier Menarche and Mental Health: A Translational Review for Clinicians.

Background: Over the past decades, the global onset of menarche has progressively advanced, driven by complex interactions between metabolic, psychosocial, and environmental factors. Beyond its reproductive significance, menarche represents a critical developmental milestone that coincides with increased vulnerability to mental health difficulties. Contemporary determinants such as childhood obesity, early-life adversity, and exposure to endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) may accelerate pubertal timing while simultaneously shaping adverse psychological trajectories during adolescence. Psychosocial Predictors of Maternal-Fetal Attachment in Anxious Pregnancies: A Study Among Women With Prior Miscarriages.

BACKGROUND: Maternal mental health influences the key psychological process of maternal-fetal attachment (MFA) during pregnancy. Women with a history of miscarriage are at increased risk of prenatal anxiety and depression, which may affect their emotional bond with the fetus. Evidence on how anxiety and depression influence MFA in high-risk pregnancies is inconsistent, particularly in low-income settings such as Pakistan, where prenatal mental health research is limited. AIMS: This study aimed to examine the association between prenatal anxiety and prenatal depression with maternal-fetal atta
