PURPOSE: To report the case of an anterior chamber epithelial cyst after uncomplicated deep anterior lamellar keratoplasty (DALK) treated with a tissue-sparing surgical technique.
METHODS: A 35-year-old female patient underwent DALK in her OS because of stage IV keratoconus. The surgery was uneventful, and 3 months postoperatively, best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) was 20/25. By the sixth postoperative month, a cystic iris lesion was noticed. The lesion grew progressively larger, and BCVA dropped to 20/63 in OS. Cyst excision was performed.

Macular retinoschisis can be caused by acquired optic nerve pit from glaucoma. This study evaluated the efficacy of laser treatment for this disorder. We report on five eyes from three patients with macular retinoschisis and a history of glaucoma. Spectral domain optical coherence tomography was used for diagnosis and follow-up. The authors describe a 34-month-old boy who presented with a bilateral and asymmetric exudative retinopathy with similarities to Coats’ disease. The patient’s medical history was remarkable for hypotonia, developmental delay, seizures, and intracranial calcifications. Genetic testing revealed a diagnosis of Coats’ plus. This rare genetic disease should be in the differential diagnosis in patients who present with a bilateral and asymmetric Coats’-like retinopathy in the presence of other systemic abnormalities.

OBJECTIVE: We sought to assess the incidence of an elevated peak systolic velocity of the middle cerebral artery (MCA-PSV) in twin-twin transfusion syndrome prior to laser surgery and its prognostic value for intrauterine fetal demise 24 hours after surgery (IUFD-24).
STUDY DESIGN: An elevated MCA-PSV was defined as a velocity > .5 multiples of the median by transabdominal pulsed Doppler. Gestational age, Quintero stage, and number and/or type of placental vascular anastomoses were assessed as risk factors for an elevated MCA-PSV. Risk of IUFD-24 was assessed relative to an elevated MCA-PSV.
