Cervicofacial actinomycosis is an uncommon infection and in most cases odontogenic in origin. Pharyngeal and/or laryngeal lesions, usually occurring secondary to mucosal trauma, are very rare and may mimic a malignant tumor. In such cases, which represent less than 1% of all cases, the differential diagnosis with upper aerodigestive tract malignancy remains challenging. Following a Glenn procedure, a stent was implanted into the pulmonary artery to relieve stenosis. After the procedure, the patient developed bradycardia and became asystolic. Resuscitation was successful following cardiac massage, but subsequent catheterization revealed the stent to be broken in two, with shift of the distal fragment. The two parts were stabilized and connected by implantation of an additional CP stent.

Iatrogenic injury is an underreported but potentially devastating complication of orthopedic wire migration. We report a 48-year-old man with a tracheoinnominate artery fistula caused by migration of a Kirschner wire that was inserted for fixation of a left clavicle fracture nine years before. INTRODUCTION: Migration of the distal catheter into the heart is an extremely rare complication of ventriculoperitoneal shunt, with only 11 cases reported in literature; in only four of them, there was also the migration into the pulmonary artery. Periacetabular radiolucent lines (RLLs) on postoperative radiographs have been associated with early loosening of the acetabular component. It has also been shown that excessive migration of an implant corresponds to an increased incidence of later clinical failure. This study relates RLLs on anterior-posterior hip radiographs taken 10 days and 6 months postoperatively to implant migration detected by roentgen stereophotogrammetric analysis. We have shown that RLLs in DeLee and Charnley zone III in the first week postoperatively as well as at 6 months are positively and significantly (P < .05)

Children have limited venous access possibilities; therefore, when long-term therapy is necessary, it is better to place a catheter in a central vein. The Port catheter, totally implanted, is less exposed to the risk of infection and permits a normal life. However, there is the possibility of the displacement or fragmentation of the catheter that can be diagnosed initially only by clinical symptoms and later by a chest X-ray. We report a case of disconnection between the Port catheter and the reservoir resulting in catheter migration to the left pulmonary artery.

PURPOSE: To report a new complication of 360 degrees suture trabeculotomy attributable to subretinal suture misdirection.
DESIGN: Observational case report.
METHODS: Retrospective chart review.
RESULTS: A 5-month-old female with bilateral congenital glaucoma underwent uncomplicated 360 degrees suture trabeculotomy in the right eye. In the left eye, a scleral flap was created and dissection to Schlemm's canal was achieved. A 6-0 Prolene suture was passed into Schlemm's canal long enough for 360 degrees of treatment, did not come out the opening, and was retracted. The procedure was completed

PURPOSE: To examine a recent series of late scleral-sutured posterior chamber intraocular lens (PCIOL) dislocations to identify possible causes and preventive measures.
SETTING: Price Vision Group, Indianapolis, Indiana, USA.
METHODS: In this retrospective non-comparative interventional case series, 5 consecutive patients received treatment for dislocated scleral-sutured PCIOLs between July 2002 and March 2004. Dislocated lenses were resutured or replaced with another scleral-sutured PCIOL.

Varying results and a high rate of subsidence have been reported for the straight femoral stem (M.E. Muller) made of titanium alloy. We examined subsidence in 135 titanium-alloy straight stems implanted with high viscosity cement after 68.8+/-11.5 months using a digital high-precision method (EBRA-FCA). One revised implant showed a subsidence of 14.6 mm and another 2.5 mm over 5 years. A third implant without migration was found to be loose. More and more prosthetic materials are being used in the treatment of inguinal hernia. This report deals with some unusual but devastating complications, occurring after preperitoneal mesh implantation.
