BACKGROUND: Spontaneous bullous serous retinal detachment (RD) with subretinal exudation complicating idiopathic central serous chorioretinopathy (ICSC) is a rare and infrequently described clinical entity. Clinical observations are described on this variant form in 11 patients, the largest series reported to date.

Trilateral retinoblastoma is a rare and almost exclusively fatal disease. Previous treatment regimens have failed to prolong life once the diagnosis is made. We present the first documented case of a patient with neonatal trilateral retinoblastoma successfully treated with chemotherapy and sequential local retinal treatment who is alive and well 26 months after diagnosis.

BACKGROUND: We describe a new technique of inferior off-center ablation with laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) to correct both hyperopia and presbyopia.
METHODS: This prospective clinical study was based on the empirical results obtained with LASIK in 16 hyperopic eyes of 8 patients. All patients had a centered ablation in one eye and an inferior decentered ablation in the other eye. A Schwind excimer laser was used and a planned inferior off-center ablation of 1 mm was performed. Maximum follow-up was 22 months (8 eyes).

METHODS: The authors retrospectively analyzed the data of 29 eyes of 29 patients who underwent consecutive direct surgical cyclopexy for hypotonus cyclodialysis between 1980 and 1993 at the authors' institution. A 63-year-old man developed hypotony due to a cyclodialysis cleft after suture fixation of a posterior chamber intraocular lens. Since medical management and argon laser photocoagulation were unsuccessful, a direct cyclopexy was performed. The intraocular pressure returned to normal postoperatively, and gonioscopy confirmed closure of the cleft. To our knowledge, this is the first case report of cyclodialysis complicating ciliary sulcus fixation of a posterior chamber lens.
