OBJECTIVE: To assess the effectiveness and tolerance of systemic metronidazole in the treatment of childhood ocular and cutaneous rosacea.
METHOD: Single-center multidisciplinary retrospective study.

PURPOSE: To compare the intraocular pressure (IOP)-lowering efficacy and safety of netarsudil once daily (QD) and timolol twice daily (BID).
DESIGN: Double-masked, randomized, phase 3, noninferiority study.
METHODS: Patients with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension (unmedicated baseline IOP >20 to <30 mm Hg at 8:00 AM) were randomized to netarsudil ophthalmic solution 0.02% QD (PM) or timolol ophthalmic solution 0.5% BID. Conjunctivitis is one of the most common ophthalmologic conditions in general medical practice. In most cases, it is self-limiting and do not require topical antibiotic therapy. In a retrospective, observational cohort study during 2013-2017 in a region in Sweden conjunctivitis was diagnosed in 32 000 cases in primary care. BACKGROUND: The β adrenergic receptors (ADRB) are expressed in the ciliary body and trabecular meshwork, structures involved in aqueous humor production and outflow, respectively. ADRB are members of the adrenergic family of G-protein-coupled receptors. Topic β blockers have a good local and systemic tolerance; they reduce the aqueous humor production and eye strain blocking the ADRB of the ciliary body and interfering with adenylate cyclase. However, the ocular hypotensive response is not the same in all patients and could be mediated by the polymorphisms of the ADRB genes.
