A new complication after deep sclerectomy with implant is presented as a case report. A 42-year-old male with uncontrolled primary open-angle glaucoma underwent nonpenetrating deep sclerectomy (NPDS) with an SK-GEL implant in his left eye. Two months after surgery the implant was noted to migrate into the subconjunctival space. Seven months later the implant was stable in the new position without complication. Implant migration into the subconjunctival space is a possible complication of NPDS.

The presence of collateral vessels in a young child with glaucoma is rare. The authors describe a case of collateral vessel regression with intraocular pressure reduction in a child with primary congenital glaucoma. Six months following 180 degrees goniotomies in each eye, the intraocular pressure was reduced, dilation of the retinal arteries and veins resolved, and collateral vessels in both eyes regressed. Intraocular pressure reduction may lead to the regression of collateral vessels in children with primary congenital glaucoma.

BACKGROUND: Our aim was to investigate the outcomes of selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT) for the treatment of primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) in a prospective clinical study.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: In 90 eyes suffering from POAG, treatment was carried out with a frequency-doubled, Q-switched Nd:YAG laser (532 nm). PURPOSE: To detect nondiagnostic hypotony maculopathy by OCT III after filtration surgery.
METHODS: After surgery, patients with intraocular pressure less than 9 mmHg were submitted to OCT III examination.
RESULTS: Seven (87.50%) patients with previous diagnosis of open angle glaucoma and one (12.50%) of them with acute angle closure glaucoma. Two patients (25.00%) presented hypotony maculopathy on OCT III examination.
CONCLUSION: OCT III examination seems to be a good diagnostic method to detect subclinical hypotony maculopathy after filtration surgery.

Juvenile glaucoma is an uncommon form of chronic open angle glaucoma that appears between 3 and 35 years of age. We reports in this study four cases; one of them had unilateral visual acuity reduced. The intraocular pressure is above to 30 mm Hg, and a myopia was associated to two cases. The insidious development of this pathology and the difficulty of its diagnosis among young people, often result in severe clinical manifestations, with high visual field defects, and important optic disc cuppings.

The fellow eyes of 9 Patients suffering of unilateral classical malignant glaucoma have been throughly examined short after the onset of malignant glaucoma. In 3 cases they were apparently normal, in other 3 cases they exhibited an intermittent primary angle closure glaucoma and in the remaining 3 ones an absolute glaucoma. The therapeutic options of these fellow eyes are discussed.

The content of the fibronectin, an extracellular glycoprotein in the drainage outflow system of human eyes was determined by the indirect immunoperoxidase staining technique. The degree of fibronectin accumulation in ocular tissues was evaluated by quantitative morphometric analysis. The Optic Nerve Head Analyzer (Rodenstock München, FRG) was used to investigate the optic disc structure of 9 eyes before and after surgical reduction of intraocular pressure (IOP). Two cases of buphthalmos and regional gigantism in peripheral neurofibromatosis (Von Recklinghausen disease) are described. The ocular hypertension was detected at birth and thereafter the facial hemihypertrophy, café-au-lait spots and neurofibromas. One case presented a progressive facial elephantiasis without buphthalmos. The evolution in neurofibromatous elephantiasis of these three cases is discussed.
