BACKGROUND: Several published studies with a small sample size have reported differing results of duplex ultrasound (DUS) utilizing different threshold velocities in detecting significant stenosis of superior mesenteric (SMA) or celiac arteries (CA). BACKGROUND: Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) accounts for over 80% of malignant tumors arising from the kidney. However, metastatic RCC to the head and neck is a relatively rare entity.
CASE PRESENTATION: We describe three patients with metastatic RCC to the head and neck with the involvement of the parapharyngeal space, the level V region of the neck, and the maxillary sinus.

We reviewed 10 cases of thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP) following cardiac surgery since November 1998. The object of the study was to define the natural history of post-CABG-TTP and to assess response to therapy. All patients underwent CABG; four also underwent aortic valve replacement and six mitral valve replacement. Eight patients had mental status changes and/or unexplained fever. Strut allografts are used in cervical spine reconstruction following corpectomy. A stress fracture in the graft is a rare event. We explain a late stress fracture of an allograft following anterior cervical fusion. A 57-year-old male with a history of cervical myeloradiculopathy underwent a three-level anterior cervical corpectomy and allograft reconstruction from C3-C7. A rare case of a benign mesothelial cyst arising from the mesentery of the descending colon is presented. A 73 year old female presented with an asymptomatic mesenteric cyst on CT scan. Colonoscopy revealed extrinsic compression of the descending colon. Surgical resection of the cyst necessitated partial colon resection due to the adherent nature of the cyst to the colon and its mesentery. The details of the case are presented as well as a brief review of the relevant literature.

Chronic headaches can be debilitating for many patients. They often have a nebulous etiology, unpredictable course, and can be difficult to manage. We describe a post-traumatic headache that began after a motor vehicle collision. The patient sustained multiple injuries including a scalp laceration and bilateral occipital condyle fractures. Oral agents were unable to quell this patient's headaches. The diagnosis of occipital neuralgia was suspected based on history and presentation. Our patient received dramatic relief after ultrasound guided bilateral greater occipital nerve blocks.
