Melanocytes are pigmented cells derived from the neural crest; their proliferation is restrained by immune system. The eruption of nevi after an immunosuppressive condition is a peculiar phenomenon indicating that the immune system may play a major role in limiting proliferation of melanocytes. Sun exposure and high prevalence of melanocytic nevi are major risk factors for melanoma, but the relationship between them is not well understood. During 1984, junctional and compound naevi were registered significantly more often during the summer half-year (May-October) than the total number of naevi, which showed no seasonal variation. PURPOSE: To describe the clinical features and long-term ophthalmic and systemic findings in patients with sclerochoroidal calcification (SCC).
METHODS: Retrospective non-interventional clinical chart review of 179 eyes of 118 patients with SCC to evaluate for the relationship of SCC with systemic calcium metabolic abnormalities.

Primary melanoma of the urinary bladder is rare. We report a case of a 58-year-old woman, who presented with a 4 month history of dysuria and hematuria. A biopsy indicated a diagnosis of invasive melanoma and a partial cystectomy was performed. The neoplasm had invaded the entire thickness of the bladder wall and the neoplastic cells were positive for Melan A and HMB-45. Four months later a urinary bladder measuring 13×7×5cm was sent for histopathology. AIM: To examine the role of immune, biochemical and hormonal factors in the regulation of melanogenesis in patients with chromatopathy.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: We observed 226 patients with various forms dyschromia skin. Age of the patients was in the range of 16 to 55 years. PURPOSE: To establish the growth behavior of small ciliary body tumors in a relatively large cohort of patients over an extended period.
DESIGN: Retrospective, noncomparative case series.
METHODS: Ciliary body tumors less than 4 mm in size within the penetration power of ultrasound biomicroscopy (UBM) were included. Tumor height was assessed by ultrasound biomicroscopy. The dysplastic naevus syndrome increases the risk of cutaneous (RR: 4.36; CI: 1.84-10.36) as well as uveal melanoma (RR: 4.22; CI: 1.81-9.84).
