Genotype-Phenotype Correlation Insights in a Rare Case Presenting with Multiple Osteodysplastic Syndromes.

BACKGROUND: Osteodysplastic syndromes comprise a very diverse group of clinically and genetically heterogeneous disorders characterized by defects in bone and connective tissue development, as well as in bone density. Here, we report the case of a 48-year-old female with a complex medical history characterized by bone dysplasia, hyperostosis, and partial tooth agenesis. METHODS: Genetic testing was performed using WES analysis and Sanger sequencing. Molecular modeling analysis and dynamics simulation explored the impact of detected pathogenic variants. RESULTS: The genetic analysis detected

Development of patient-specific finite element model for study of composite dental implants.

Traumatic dental injuries can occur due to various reasons such as accidents, sports injuries, fights, falls, and others. These injuries can affect the teeth, gums, and surrounding tissues, and can range from minor chips and cracks to severe fractures, dislocations, and avulsions (when the tooth is completely knocked out of the socket). The most common way to address this is by replacing affected teeth with dental implants. The purpose of this research is to evaluate the use of composite materials in dental implants and compare them with the traditionally used materials using a patient specifi

Charcot-Marie-Tooth Disease of the Foot and Ankle: Imaging Features and Pathophysiology.

Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMT) is the most common inherited peripheral polyneuropathy, resulting in length-dependent motor and sensory deficiencies. Asymmetric nerve involvement in the lower extremities creates a muscle imbalance, which manifests as a characteristic cavovarus deformity of the foot and ankle. This deformity is widely considered to be the most debilitating symptom of the disease, causing the patient to feel unstable and limiting mobility. Foot and ankle imaging in patients with CMT is critical for evaluation and treatment, as there is a wide range of phenotypic variation. Bot

Efficacy of a novel cervical dislocation tool for humane euthanasia of broilers and broiler breeders.

Euthanasia is an essential task performed daily on commercial poultry farms around the world to safeguard animal welfare. Manual cervical dislocation (MCD) is the most common euthanasia method but can be challenging to perform given the physical strength required to implement this technique. Therefore, the objective of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of a novel cervical dislocation tool (NCDT) compared to MCD. A total of 60 Ross 308 chickens (6-wk old) and 60 Ross 706 parent stock breeders (21-wk old) were enrolled in the study. Birds were sexed, blocked by body weight, and allocated t
