Antibiotic resistance and treatment adherence remain significant challenges for acne treatment. Advances in topical formulations have ushered in an era of fixed combination topical therapeutics that are well-tolerated and more efficacious. In addition, their once-daily application leads to increased treatment adherence. This article discusses formulation strategies that allow for the coadministration of active drugs and reviews all commercially available fixed-combination topical acne treatments. J Drugs Dermatol. 2024;23:4(Suppl 2):s4-10.

Orofacial granulomatosis is a chronic relapsing-remitting inflammatory condition that shares a similar phenotypic presentation to some other granulomatous diseases, particularly Crohn's disease. However, subtle clinical and pathological differences justify it as a separate disease entity. Previous studies have assessed the effectiveness of interventions used in the management of orofacial granulomatosis. This article reviews the management options available. A literature search was conducted to identify studies, in English, which assessed the effect of non-pharmacological and pharmacological i

Sodium aescinate (SA) shows great potential for treating lymphedema since it can regulate the expression of cytokines in M1 macrophages, however, it is commonly administered intravenously in clinical practice and often accompanied by severe toxic side effects and short metabolic cycles. Herein, SA-loaded chiral supramolecular hydrogels are prepared to prove the curative effects of SA on lymphedema and enhance its safety and transdermal transmission efficiency. In vitro studies demonstrate that SA- loaded chiral supramolecular hydrogels can modulate local immune responses by inhibiting M1 macro

In this study, we sought to investigate the effect of dermaplaning, a popular cosmeceutical skin rejuvenation technique on the permeation of drugs. Baclofen and diclofenac were used as hydrophilic and hydrophobic model drugs, respectively. A specific area of skin was treated with 4 strokes of a dermaplane device. Interindividual variability was assessed by having multiple users operate the device for the study. Dermaplaned skin was histologically evaluated and characterized for resistance drop and the depletion of the stratum corneum (SC). The effect of dermaplaning on drug permeation was inve

BACKGROUND: Hydrogen peroxide (H2 O2 ) has been used in medicine as an antiseptic, but at a higher concentration of 40%, it is used as a chemical cauterant for seborrheic keratoses (SKs). Its action and hence utility at 30% is unexplored. It can serve as a relatively inexpensive modality of treatment for SKs.
OBJECTIVES: To evaluate the efficacy and side effects of 30% H2 O2 as a chemical cauterant in SKs.
METHODS: Seborrheic keratoses were treated with 30% H2 O2 methodically. Posttreatment assessment was done for the lesion thickness, patient satisfaction, and side effects like burning, itc

Management of the skin-soft tissue envelope (SSTE) in rhinoplasty is challenging and critical for the overall outcome. The preoperative identification of patients with thick or thin skin and with preexisting skin conditions may contribute significantly to the postsurgical result. Most publications and textbooks focus on the management of the osseocartilaginous framework, but the SSTE management is often not addressed in detail. However, nonsurgical treatments, such as skin preconditioning, topical steroid-injections, oral isotretinoin, and topical vitamin A derivatives, may provide strong bene
