BACKGROUND: Endothelial dysfunction is associated with cardiovascular disease and cardiac events. Numerous studies demonstrate that a reduction in physical activity/exercise levels are associated with poor endothelial function. Yet, these studies use a plethora of models to mimic reduced activity levels which may have widely different results on endothelial function. It is pertinent to collectively review these articles to provide a comprehensive understanding of the impact of reduced activity on vascular health, as endothelial function is one of many factors that influences vascular tone.

Seven cases of benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) after operation were reported, occurring between the fourth and 14th postoperative day. In three of the seven cases, the condition occurred when the patients first arose from bed after 5 to 6 days of postoperative bedrest. In two cases, BPPV occurred when patients moved their head while maintaining strict bedrest. In the other two cases, it occurred 1 to 4 days after patients had been released from bedrest. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the role of indomethacin in discriminating between preterm labour and cervical insufficiency-related cervical shortening.
METHODS: Retrospective analysis of all cases of cervical shortening on singleton gestations. All patients were treated according to our protocol with one or more of the following three modalities: (1) bed rest only, (2) bed rest and indomethacin and (3) cervical cerclage, bed rest, and indomethacin.
OUTCOMES: foetal loss <24 weeks, birth weight, delivery <34 weeks, and delivery <37 weeks.
