BACKGROUND: Reoperation rates in clavicular fractures and acromioclavicular (AC) joint dislocations are high, often indicated for plate removal due to plate prominence and poor cosmesis. The recently designed 2.7 mm variable angle locking compression plate (VA-LCP®) Clavicle Plate and 2.7 mm VA-LCP® Clavicle Hook Plate (J&J MedTech) are intended to have an improved plate-to-bone fit, are precontoured, and have a low profile. Additionally, the Clavicle Hook Plate has a more anatomically adapted hook design to reduce the risk of painful osteolysis leading to earlier plate removals. All screw hol

BACKGROUND: Thoracic outlet syndrome can develop following the malunion of a clavicle midshaft fracture. To date, thoracic outlet syndrome complicated by clavicle malunion is typically treated with either first rib resection or corrective clavicle osteotomy; however, there have been no reports of these two procedures being performed simultaneously using the same approach. We present the first documented case of thoracic outlet syndrome caused by clavicle malunion treated by simultaneous first rib resection and corrective clavicle osteotomy through a single infraclavicular approach.

INTRODUCTION: Unstable lateral end clavicle fractures (Neer type 2) are prone to non-union due to various deforming forces and present a challenge in management. While multiple fixation techniques exist, each has its own complications. Combining a pre-contoured locking distal clavicle plate with a tunneled suspensory device gives best clinical and biomechanical results.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: This prospective interventional study included 50 patients with unilateral Neer type 2 fractures of clavicle, treated with combined fixation using a pre-contoured locking distal clavicle plate and tunnel

INTRODUCTION: Clavicle fractures and acromioclavicular joint dislocations are very common injuries. However, the combination of both, known as "floating clavicle" is extremely rare, with approximately 40 cases reported.
PRESENTATION OF CASE: We report a case of a healthy 51-year-old male who suffered a high-velocity biking accident, with a bipolar clavicle injury (type IV acromioclavicular joint dislocation and proximal clavicle fracture), with concomitant rib fractures and pulmonary contusion. He received early surgical treatment by open reduction and osteosynthesis of the proximal clavicle

The majority of clavicle fractures unite uneventfully. Indications for operative surgery are limited, with high rates of complications. We describe our results with an alternative cost effective method of treating these injuries in young patients. It is a retrospective series of 20 patients treated between January 2005 and January 2009 with a "piggy back" technique using double plating with two 3.5 mm drill hole semitubular plates. All patients were assessed with DASH (Disability of Arm, Shoulder and Hand) score at last review. Average time to union was 12.5 weeks. The average DASH score was 8

BACKGROUND: Surgical management of displaced midshaft clavicle fractures in adults leads to better union rates, improved early functional outcomes, and increased patient satisfaction compared with nonoperative treatment. However, both intramedullary fixation and plate osteosynthesis are subject to a specific array of disadvantages and complications. The Anser Clavicle Pin is a novel intramedullary device designed to address these disadvantages and complications. The aim of this study was to evaluate the union rate, functional outcomes, and complications of the Anser Clavicle Pin at 1-year foll

This CME article describes the current developments in peripheral regional anesthesia for shoulder dislocation, clavicle fractures and (serial) rib fractures. Ultrasound-guided regional anesthesia techniques are increasingly replacing analgesic sedation or general anesthesia for shoulder reduction, combining pain relief and muscle relaxation with greater safety. In clavicle fractures, the midclavicular block provides targeted analgesia without motor impairment as an alternative to established combined block of the brachial plexus and cervical plexus. For serial rib fractures, fascial plane blo

INTRODUCTION: Clavicle fractures are more common, accounts for about 2.6-4% of all fractures in adults. Of these, 69-82% are midshaft clavicle fractures, followed by lateral clavicle fractures, which accounts for 21-28% and medial clavicle fractures, which are the rarest one accounts for about 2-3%. Bipolar clavicle fractures are defined as lateral and medial end clavicle fractures, accounts for only 2-8% of all clavicle fractures.
CASE REPORT: We present the case of a 61-year-old female, came with right shoulder pain and swelling following an alleged history of a fall. Initially managed as a

BACKGROUND: Clavicular reconstruction poses several challenges for reconstructive surgeons, especially when addressing long bone defects. The authors present a European multicenter case series evaluating the use of the free fibula flap for clavicle reconstruction, reporting outcomes in a uniform manner and applying orthoplastic concepts to suggest technical tips for maximizing procedural success.
METHODS: Adult patients with clavicular bone loss due to trauma, infection, or oncologic resection were included. Surgical outcomes were measured in terms of bone healing and functional recovery usin

OBJECTIVE: To summarize the surgical treatment of different proximal clavicle fractures, and discuss the classification of proximal clavicle fractures.
METHODS: Total of 24 patients with displaced proximal clavicle fractures were treated from January 2017 to December 2020 including 16 males and 8 females, aged 28 to 66 years old. Among them, 20 cases were fresh fractures and 4 cases were old fractures. According to the Edinburgh classification, 14 cases were type 1B1 fractures and 10 cases were type 1B2 fractures. The different internal fixation methods were selected for internal fixation tre

Brachial plexopathy after conservative therapy or surgical treatment of clavicular fractures is an uncommon, yet serious complication that is associated with compression of the brachial plexus or the subclavian artery and vein because they traverse through the thoracic outlet. Surgical decompression of the brachial plexus is the recommended treatment if this condition is to occur. Although there are multiple reports of these cases in the literature, at present, there are no clear guidelines for their management. We are highlighting an institutional management algorithm, illustrated by a small

HYPOTHESIS: The purpose of the present study was described as the arthroscopically assisted procedure that uses a synthetic conoid ligament reconstruction using Zip Tight (Zimmer biomet, Warsaw, USA) and fracture-site fixation with K-wire. Our hypothesis was that this technique provided a satisfactory functional outcome with minimum complication.
METHODS: 45 patients underwent operation to treat fractures of the distal clavicle between January 2014 and May 2017. The inclusion criteria were as follows: (1) there is an episode of trauma and it is the first fracture (2) distal clavicle fracture

We report on a 54-year old male with traumatic brain injury, flail chest and floating shoulder undergoing intramedullary stabilization of a midshaft clavicle fracture in beach chair position. Intraoperatively the patient developed instable atrial fibrillation triggered by implantation of intramedullary nail. Secondary this case shows feasibility of cardioversion in latero-lateral electrode-position due to inaccessible standard positions and patient fixation between the operation table and the X-ray apparatus.

A 7-year-old girl presented with an asymptomatic right supraclavicular swelling. Radiographs were interpreted as showing a non-union of her clavicle. No treatment was given at this time. However, she represented 12 years later with right upper limb pain and altered sensation. Examination revealed a positive Allen's test on the right. Repeat radiographs demonstrated a pseudarthrosis of the clavicle, associated with a secondary complication of thoracic outlet syndrome with vascular and neurological complications present. Non-operative management failed to relieve her symptoms. Operative interven
