PSO-LONG: Design of a Novel, 12-Month Clinical Trial of Topical, Proactive Maintenance with Twice-Weekly Cal/BD Foam in Psoriasis.

BACKGROUND: Psoriasis vulgaris is commonly treated with topical corticosteroids and vitamin D analogues. Although potent and super-potent topical corticosteroids are very effective at clearing psoriasis, with short-term reactive treatment durations, symptoms usually recur after treatment discontinuation, necessitating long-term disease management strategies. A foam formulation of calcipotriol and betamethasone dipropionate (Cal/BD foam), consisting of calcipotriol 50 μg/g and betamethasone dipropionate 0.5 mg/g, is approved for the daily treatment of psoriasis for up to 4 weeks. Topical Treatment With an Agent Disruptive to P. acnes Biofilm Provides Positive Therapeutic Response: Results of a Randomized Clinical Trial.

The traditional disease model of acne has been one of follicular plugging due to 'sticky epithelial cells' associated with increased sebum production with deep follicular anaerobic conditions favoring P. acnes- generated inflammation. P. acnes biofilms have been found more frequently in patients with acne than controls. Biofilms are genetically coded to create adhesion to the pilosebaceous unit followed by production of a mucopolysaccharide coating capable of binding to lipid surfaces. Traditional therapies for acne have involved mixtures of oral and topical antibiotics admix

Randomized double-blind clinical trial comparing clobetasol and dexamethasone for the topical treatment of symptomatic oral chronic graft-versus-host disease.

Patients who undergo allogeneic stem cell transplantation frequently develop an immunologic disease caused by the reactivation of the graft to the host tissues. This disease is called graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) and it is usually a systemic disorder. In a large proportion of cases, oral disorders that are related to a chronic phase of GVHD (cGVHD) occur, and their treatment involves the use of topical immunosuppressive drugs. Several medications have been studied for this purpose, but only a small number of clinical trials have been published. The present study is a randomized, double-bli
