Tapinocephalids were one of the earliest therapsid clades to evolve herbivory. In acquiring derived tooth-to-tooth occlusion by means of an exaggerated heel and talon crown morphology, members of this family have long been considered herbivorous, yet little work has been done to describe their dentition. Incontinentia pigmenti (IP) is an X-linked dominant genodermatosis characterized by typical skin lesions along Blaschko's lines and associated with ocular, dental, nails, hair, skeletal, central nervous system and cardiovascular anomalies. We report a 5-year-old boy with cutaneous hyperpigmentation along Blaschko's lines, atrophic streaks, strabismus and mental retardation. He showed the characteristic abnormal dentition seen in IP as partial hypodontia, peg-shaped anterior teeth and un-erupted teeth. The expression of IP in boys is exceptional as the disease is lethal in males.

Variation in size, form and morphology of the teeth result in anomalies such as macrodontia, microdontia, hyperdontia, hypodontia, double tooth, taurodontism and dens in dente. While traits that may occur more commonly in certain ethnic groups may be considered to be specific to that population. The characteristics of these anomalies and traits are presented along with the prevalence figures for their occurrence in primary dentition of southern Chinese.

Congenital aplasia (agenesis) is an important development dental anomaly. There is a big discrepancy between the data on the prevalence of aplasia in dental literature. The authors analyzed orthopantomograms of 1875 children and adolescents at the Department of Dentistry for Children and Orthodontics of Semmelweis University. Supernumerary teeth which occur both in the primary and the permanent dentition are seen more frequently in the permanent dentition causing a variety of pathological disturbances. Presented herewith is a case report of a patient with a mesiodens which had caused flaring of the maxillary central incisors and impeded normal eruption of the maxillary lateral incisors. Extraction of the mesiodens was carried out; subsequently followed by the space closure utilizing simple fixed orthodontic therapy.
