This study demonstrated that increases of corneal curvature in living rabbits could be induced through the application of heated brass rings. Dry eye disease (DED) is a highly prevalent ocular surface disorder with neuroimmune pathophysiology. Lakes store large quantities of carbon in their sediments, contributing to climate regulation. Yet the fate of this carbon after lake desiccation remains unclear. Using a space-for-time substitution approach, combining sediment cores, carbon dioxide flux measurements, and remote sensing, we quantified organic carbon losses from the world's largest desiccated lake, the Aral Sea. Hypertriiodothyroninemia during therapy with thyroglobulin was noted in six hypothyroid patients aged 9 to 25 years. Causes of hypothyroidism were thyroiditis, congenital athyreosis, cryptothyroidism, or goitrous hypothyroidism. Serum thyroxine level, measured at the same time, was below normal in three patients.
