This study examined data on usage of screening mammograms and clinical breast examination (CBE) by 1,339 Florida women interviewed during the 1991 Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance Survey. Among women 20 to 40 years old, 87.3% reported a CBE within the past 3 years, exceeding the guidelines of the American Cancer Society. Among older women, 70.4% had a CBE within the past year as recommended. However, only a bare majority (50.5%) of those aged 50 or older had obtained a mammogram in the past year. Increased numbers of patients with genital ulcers sought medical attention in the Palm Beach County, Florida, Sexually Transmitted Disease clinics from Aug 1, 1982 to Aug 31, 1983. We established that a small proportion of subsequent cases of genital ulcers were caused by Haemophilus ducreyi, the etiologic agent associated with chancroid. A group of 144 wild mammals, including white-tailed deer, cottontail rabbits, fox squirrels, gray squirrels, raccoons, opossums, a bobcat, and various small rodents was examined for cultural or serologic evidence of leptospiral infection. The federally threatened American crocodile (Crocodylus acutus) is a flagship species and ecological indicator of hydrologic restoration in the Florida Everglades. INTRODUCTION: A 15-year experience treating velopharyngeal insufficiency at the University of Florida is presented. After diagnostic speech evaluation, preoperative videofluoroscopy was the primary method used to evaluate the function of the velopharyngeal port.
METHODS: Chart reviews of all patients with velopharyngeal insufficiency, including patients with failed palatal cleft surgery, submucous cleft palate, and noncleft palate who met study criteria were included.

Prescription opioid use has grown rapidly, but few studies examined whether users have similar treatment responses as heroin users. Participants were 1,648 opioid users in Florida Access to Recovery (2004-2007).
