Treatment of infectious keratitis with riboflavin and ultraviolet-A irradiation.

UNLABELLED: We report 4 eyes with infectious keratitis treated with riboflavin/ultraviolet-A irradiation (corneal collagen crosslinking [CXL]) in addition to medical treatment. In 2 eyes with bilateral keratitis, the fellow eye was treated with medical treatment alone. The other 2 eyes had refractory keratitis. The results suggest that CXL may be more worthwhile in cases refractory to conventional medical treatment. FINANCIAL DISCLOSURE: No author has a financial or proprietary interest in any material or method mentioned.

Non-glaucoma periocular allergic, atopic, and irritant dermatitis at an academic institution: A retrospective review.

PURPOSE: To better understand the nature of periocular dermatitis (PD) patient presentation, treatment, time-to-cure, and referral pattern for allergy testing in an ophthalmic academic center. METHODS: A retrospective chart review of 344 patients diagnosed with PD between January 1, 2000 and November 30, 2016 at the Edward S. Harkness Eye Institute was performed. Eighty patients were eligible for the study. The primary endpoint was the time-to-cure. Cox proportional hazards regression was performed to assess if there was a significant difference between time-to-cure in patients treated with:

Adverse events of antibody-drug conjugates on the ocular surface in cancer therapy.

Antibody-drug conjugates consist of a monoclonal antibody attached to a cytotoxic therapeutic molecule by a connector. This association allows a highly specific therapy, which increases their effectiveness and decreases their potential toxicity. This new therapy emerged approximately 20 years ago; since then, numerous combinations have appeared in the field of treatment-related neoplasms as an alternative for patients who do not achieve good results with conventional treatment options. Adverse effects of these drugs on the ocular surface are frequent and varied. Their prevalence ranges from 20

[Determination and level investigation of 45 hormones in edible bird's nest by solid phase extraction-high performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry].

Edible bird's nests (EBNs), a food of animal origin, are temporary nests built by swiftlets to foster their offspring. As EBNs and their pro … its of quantification (LOQs, S/N≥10) were 0.16-2.00 μg/kg. The recoveries of five hormones, namely, fluorometholone, budesonide, aldosterone, fluocinonide, and ethinylestradiol, were 40.2%-63.6%. Owing to the low recoveries, this method might be suitable only for qualitative testing of the five hormones. The recoveries of the other 40 target analytes were between …

Uncommon Blepharitis.

Blepharitis is a common chronic inflammatory condition affecting the eyelid margins; the pathophysiology of blepharitis is complex and not fully understood. The disease is anatomically divided into anterior (inflammation of eyelashes) and posterior (meibomian gland dysfunction) types. Diagnosis relies on clinical examination, revealing characteristic features like scurf, vascular changes, and meibomian gland dysfunction. The main goals of blepharitis treatment are symptom relief, recurrence prevention, and complication risk minimization. Treatment options include lid hygiene, topical and syste

This pain influences recovery and quality … harms of diclofenac versus any other active pharmacological comparator (dexamethasone, pranoprofen, fluorometholone, oxybuprocaine, flurbiprofen, lignocaine), and for different routes and delivery of diclofenac, due to few and small studies, no reporting of key outcomes, and very low-certainty evidence for the reported outcomes. Ocular toxicity associated with antibody-drug conjugates in cancer therapy: a comprehensive review.

Ocular toxicity from anti-cancer drugs is frequently overlooked, largely because it is non-life-threatening, whereas clinical priorities often center on adverse events that pose immediate risks to survival. Antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) have emerged as an important therapeutic modality in oncology, offering potent cytotoxicity against tumor cells through the targeted delivery of payloads. However, this potency also introduces a spectrum of toxicities, among which ocular toxicity has gained increasing attention. ADC-induced ocular toxicity can impair visual function and significantly compromi

Frequency of Topical Immunomodulatory and Immunosuppressive Therapies for Ocular Chronic Graft-versus-Host Disease.

Introduction: The purpose of the study was to evaluate the frequency of topical immunomodulatory and immunosuppressive therapies in patients with ocular chronic graft-versus-host disease (cGVHD) in consideration of inflammatory activity and systemic immunosuppressive therapies in a tertiary care university hospital setting. Methods: We included 95 adult patients (48 male, 47 female) with ocular chronic graft-versus-host disease (cGVHD) after alloHSCT (median age 49.5 years). Ocular toxicities associated with anticancer drug therapy in Asian patients: a literature review and practical management recommendations for non-ophthalmologic settings.

BACKGROUND: Ocular toxicities associated with anticancer therapies, including cytotoxic chemotherapy, hormonal agents, molecular targeted therapies, immune checkpoint inhibitors, and antibody-drug conjugates, are increasingly recognized and may substantially impair visual function and quality of life. However, ethnicity-specific data for Asian populations and practical management strategies applicable to non-ophthalmologic settings remain limited. METHODS: A literature review of publications up to December 2025 was conducted using PubMed to identify studies reporting incidence, mechanisms, pr
