BACKGROUND: Hormonal alterations and lowered immunity during pregnancy aggravated by poor oral hygiene increase the risk of pregnant women of developing oral diseases. We conducted this cross-sectional study to examine the role of oral and prenatal health providers in promoting dental care for pregnant women attending primary healthcare centers (PHCs) in Saudi Arabia.
METHODS: An online questionnaire was sent to a random sample of women who attended PHCs in Jeddah, during 2018-2019. From a total of 1350 women who responded to our questionnaire, 515 women reported having a dental visit before

BACKGROUND: Over a decade of evidence supports the claim that increased access to insurance through Medicaid expansions improves early detection of cancer. Yet, evidence linking Medicaid expansions to early detection of head and neck cancers (HNC) of the oral cavity and pharynx, specifically, may be limited by the lack of attention to Human Papillomavirus (HPV) etiology, generosity of dental coverage, and valid inference analyzing state cancer registry data.
AIMS: This study reexamined the effect of Medicaid expansion on early detection of HPV+/- HNC in states offering extensive dental benefi

OBJECTIVES: The implementation of Nationwide Water Fluoridation in Israel in 2002 led to a significant reduction in caries among children. However, this practice was discontinued in 2014 due to a change in legislation. In 2010, as part of the Israeli National Health Insurance Law, free dental care for children under 10 years of age was legislated. This policy was gradually extended to include adolescents under 18 years of age in 2018. We examined the association between these efforts and changes in the caries-related treatment needs of young adults over the course of two decades.

IMPORTANCE: Process-based quality measures are generally intended to promote evidence-based practices that have been proven to improve outcomes. However, due to lack of standardized implementation of diagnostic codes in dentistry, assessing the association between process and oral health outcomes has been challenging.
OBJECTIVE: To estimate the association of adhering to dental quality measures with patient oral health outcomes.
DESIGN, SETTING, AND PARTICIPANTS: Using a target trial emulation, a causal inference framework, this retrospective cohort study estimated the difference in the risk

Caries and periodontitis remain prevalent in the Netherlands. Given the assumption that increasing the accessibility and affordability of dental care can improve oral health outcomes, policy interventions aimed at improving these aspects may contribute to better oral health. To identify possible solutions, this scoping review firstly identifies policy interventions from around the world that have effectively improved the accessibility or affordability of dental care. Secondly, this review discusses the potential of the policy interventions identified that are applicable to the Dutch healthcare

Florida was the fastest growing state in the United States in 2024, and it has the third highest state population in 2026. We reviewed health challenges related to rapid population growth, insurance coverage gaps, underinvestment in public health, policy trends, and the high proportion of older adults to assess Florida's health and healthcare system in comparison with national benchmarks. We conducted a comparative analysis using data from the US Census Bureau, the FLHealth Community Health Assessment Resource Tool Set, America's Health Rankings, and the peer-reviewed literature. Dental opioid prescriptions remain one of the most common initial exposures to opioids worldwide. Although opioid prescribing in dentistry has declined, even limited exposure to opioids may be a significant risk factor for developing Opioid Use Disorder (OUD), particularly in younger populations. This review evaluates the existing literature on dental opioid prescriptions and the development of OUD, identifies procedural and patient-related risk factors, and assesses the effectiveness of existing intervention strategies. Following the PRISMA guidelines, a comprehensive literature search was co
