In this manuscript, as members of a National Reference Unit in Ocular Oncology, we present succinctly our preferred surgical technique for iris-ciliary body melanomas. We attach a video describing the steps we usually follow [Video Clip 1], in which an impressive image of an intravitreal air bubble through the hyaloid membrane can be observed [Fig. 1].

Description of a case of malignant melanoma of iris and ciliary body in a man of 59 years old. Clinically an interesting sign was the mahogany discolouration of the greyish cataract in the quadrant in front of the tumour. The tumour was removed following the technic of H.-S. STALLARD. Eighteen months later an E.C.C.E. was performed and a "Meur" model of implant inserted (optic in the post chamber and haptics in anterior chamber). Visual acuity in 1989 was 6/6 with glasses and a single binocular vision was recovered.

Retinoblastoma is the most common intraocular malignancy of infancy which frequently manifests with a white pupillary reflex. We report a case of delayed presentation of a child with retinoblastoma in his left eye because parents thought the change in iris colour in this eye was due to the innocent heterochromia irides that was previously diagnosed in his elder sibling. This late presentation necessitated enucleation of the affected eye followed by chemotherapy.

Schwannoma is a slow growing solitary tumor that preferentially involves spinal nerve roots, and sympathetic, cervical, and vagus nerves. Clinical identification of tapioca melanoma of the iris is important because its medical treatment may differ from that of other malignant iris melanomas. The characteristic iris nodules must be differentiated from granulomatous uveitis, metastases, and Lisch nodules (neurofibromatosis). We will discuss the anterior segment findings, secondary glaucoma, and fluorescein iris angiographic and histopathologic data from two patients, one with a single nodular type and one with a seeding type of tapioca melanoma of the iris.

An elevated, pigmented lesion of the peripheral iris developed in a 73-year-old woman. The lesion was believed to be a malignant melanoma and was excised at the time of routine cataract extraction. Pathologic examination disclosed a Fuchs' adenoma. These lesions are common in the elderly and are almost invariably clinically silent. This case, however, demonstrates that under rare circumstances a Fuchs' adenoma may induce cataractous changes or produce clinical findings that can mimic an iris melanoma.

PURPOSE: To evaluate tumor vasculature with optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) in malignant iris melanomas and benign iris lesions.
DESIGN: Cross-sectional observational clinical study.
PARTICIPANTS: Patients with iris lesions and healthy volunteers.
METHODS: Eyes were imaged using OCTA systems operating at 1050- and 840-nm wavelengths. Three-dimensional OCTA scans were acquired. Iris melanoma patients treated with radiation therapy were imaged again after I-125 plaque brachytherapy at 6 and 18 months.

PURPOSE: To alert clinicians to an uncommon presentation of iris metastasis of esophageal carcinoma. We reported a 67-year-old man complained of blurred vision and ocular pain of his right eye for 1 month. The authors describe a 6-year-old child, with a history of acute lymphoblastic leukemia, who presented with leukemic infiltration of the anterior segment of one eye mimicking anterior uveitis. After tissue diagnosis, administration of radiation therapy to the affected eye resulted in dramatic improvement of the condition. Involvement of the iris and anterior chamber is a recognized but unusual manifestation of leukemia. In the absence of systemic relapse, local radiation therapy without chemotherapy is highly effective, although the prognosis in these patients may be guarded.
