We reviewed 65 cases of uveal melanoma from the Shanghai Eye, Ear, Nose, and Throat Hospital between 1956 and 1979. These 65 cases occurred at a rate of 4.5 cases per 10,000 inpatients on the ophthalmology service. Uveal melanoma is more frequently encountered in China than previous reports have suggested. In China, as in the United States, uveal melanoma is the most frequently occurring primary intraocular neoplasm in adults. We describe the case of a 46-year-old woman with a rare presentation of angioleiomyoma of the subcutaneous nasal tissue. The patient presented with pain and severe nasal obstruction. Her nasal deformity was sufficient to indicate an external rhinoplasty for both extirpation of the tumor and reconstruction of the defect with cartilage grafts. The procedure resulted in successful removal of the tumor and a satisfactory cosmetic outcome.

Report of the case of one patient diagnosed of a nasal extramedullary solitary plasmacytoma, starting as an suppurated panophtalmia. Biopsy of the mass inside the nose led to diagnosis. Comments about the difficulties of histopathological differential diagnosis, underlying the need to rule out any other systemic process (multiple myeloma). An intranasal mass was discovered during evaluation of unilateral choanal atresia. Radiologic investigation of the lobulated cystic mass showed no communication with the central nervous system or any other bony abnormalities. We describe a novel technique for the excision of a nasal dermoid cyst in a 2-year-old boy using a four hand endoscopic approach via a small scalp incision behind the hairline. Cysticercosis, caused by infestation with the pork tapeworm Taenia solium, is known to commonly involve the brain, muscles and subcutaneous tissue. Diagnosing cysticercosis can be difficult as its clinical presentation is usually non-specific. When involving subcutaneous tissue, it can present as firm, non-tender, solitary or multiple nodules. We report a case of subcutaneous cysticercosis at the nasion mimicking a nasal dermoid.
