The Philadelphia (Ph) chromosome was the first chromosomal abnormality associated with a specific leukemia, chronic myeloid leukemia (CML). This chromosome arises from the t(9;22)(q34;q11) translocation which results in the juxtaposition of the bcr gene and the abl proto-oncogene. This BCR/ABL fusion gene encodes for a hybrid protein with the capacity of oncogenic transformation of hematopoietic cells. PURPOSE: The clinical course of patients with myeloproliferative disorders and excessive thrombocytosis may be complicated by serious hemorrhagic or thrombotic events. We have previously reported that interferon-alpha can control severe refractory thrombocytosis in patients with advanced chronic myelogenous leukemia. Philadelphia (Ph) chromosome negative chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) can be distinguished from clinically similar disorders on the basis of the presence of rearrangement of the breakpoint cluster region (bcr) of chromosome 22. To elucidate the physical and psychosocial health needs of newly arrived Afghan children, we conducted a retrospective chart review of patients 0 to 19 years re-settled to Philadelphia with ≥1 outpatient visit during August 2021 to August 2022. OBJECTIVE: To investigate the overview of thrombosis in myeloproliferative neoplasms(MPN) patients, and to explore the risk factors of thrombosis at diagnosis and during follow-up.
METHODS: The clinical data of 388 MPN patients treated in our hospital were collected. The patients were followed up by outpatient and phone. The risk factors of thrombosis were analyzed by statistical methods.

IMPORTANCE: The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia Retinopathy of Prematurity (CHOP ROP) model uses birth weight (BW), gestational age at birth (GA), and weight gain rate to predict the risk of severe retinopathy of prematurity (ROP). In a model development study, it predicted all infants requiring treatment, while greatly reducing the number of examinations compared with current screening guidelines.

BACKGROUND: The progression of kidney function and frequency of chronic kidney disease (CKD) in patients with the Philadelphia-negative myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPN) is unknown, although CKD is linked to increased mortality.
METHODS: This longitudinal retrospective study evaluates the estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) in 143 MPN patients over a period of 9 years.
RESULTS: 29% of patients had CKD stage 3 or 4 at time of diagnosis. 20% of patients had a rapid annual loss of eGFR (>3mL/min/1.73m(2)) and eGFR was negatively correlated to monocyte and neutrophil counts.
