INTRODUCTION: Open book fractures are challenging injuries oftentimes requiring surgical treatment. The current treatment of choice is symphyseal plating, which requires extensive surgery and entirely limits physiological movement of the symphyseal joint, frequently resulting in implant failure. Therefore, we investigated the biomechanical properties of a semi-rigid implant (modified SpeedBridge™) as a minimally invasive tape suture construct for the treatment of open book fractures and evaluated the superiority of two techniques of implementation: criss-cross vs. triangle technique.

OBJECTIVE: Osteotomy of iliac-pubic and ischial bone in order to cover the lateralized femoral head with the acetabulum. With the restoration of the containment of the hip joint, the acetabulum functions as a template for the femoral head, thus, allowing it to keep its sphericity during the vulnerable stages of Legg-Calve-Perthes disease.
INDICATIONS: Lateralized femoral head in severe Legg-Calve-Perthes disease and visible head at risk signs on the radiographs. Prerequisite is possible concentric reduction of the femoral head (confirmed by preoperative abduction radiograph or arthrography).

Acute bladder entrapment within a pubic bone fracture is a rare entity. Computed tomography revealed bladder entrapment without perforation in a man who had been struck by an automobile and had presented with mild hematuria. At the pelvic stabilization surgery, the bladder was manually reduced into its normal anatomic position without complications.

Eight-year clinical and radiographic data in a patient with sarcoidosis manifesting as pelvic and spinal osteosclerosis and as mediastinal lymphadenopathy are described, extending the initial report of this case written after three years of follow-up. The osteosclerotic lesions involved the right iliac and sacral wings, as well as two lumbar vertebras, which had an ivory appearance. There was also evidence of right sacroiliitis, pubic symphysitis and T7-T8 discitis. The diagnosis was established by bone and mediastinal lymph node biopsies. Follow-up was eight years at the time of this writing.

PURPOSE: Although pubic ramus fractures are common in the elderly, resultant hemodynamic instability is a rare complication. The corona mortis, a vascular anastomosis between the obturator vessels and the external iliac vessels in the retropubic space, is occasionally damaged by fractures of the pubic ramus, causing significant hemorrhage. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the incidence and anatomical position of the corona mortis on the anteroposterior and inlet views.
METHODS: Sixty-one cadavers (122 hemipelvizes) were dissected and the incidence of the corona mortis was evaluated.

Pediculosis pubis is caused by Phthirus pubis. The disease can be sexually transmitted. Patients main complain is of itch in the pubic area.
