OBJECTIVE: In order to elucidate the effects of radiation on centrosome hyperamplification (CH), we examined the centrosome duplication cycle in KK47 bladder cancer cells following irradiation.
METHODS: KK47 cells were irradiated with various doses of radiation and were examined for CH immunostaining for gamma-tubulin.

RF catheter ablation of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (PAF) is associated with prolonged fluoroscopy. The procedural duration and fluoroscopic exposure to patients and medical staff were recorded and compared among 43 ablation procedures for PAF, 20 for common atrial flutter, and 16 for accessory pathways. Case-control studies of childhood cancer and foetal exposure to diagnostic x-rays suggest that doses as small as 10 mSv increase the risk of cancer to a detectable extent. The effect of the tetrapeptide tuftcin (Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg) on the humoral immune response in CBA mice exposed to sublethal irradiation in a dose of 450 sGy was studied. The drug was injected intraperitoneally for 5 days before (series I) or after (series II) radiation exposure. BACKGROUND: Bowel management for children with chronic constipation may include repeated single-view abdomen radiographs (AXR) to monitor treatment success. Only one image of the abdomen is needed to include most of the colon, but technologists often make a second (or even third) exposure to be sure they have imaged the entire abdomen.
