The authors present the method of combined treatment of rhinophyma (surgery and laser CO2). The advantages of this method are good cosmetic result, small intraoperating bleeding and short time of healing the wound.

Two patients with significant rhinophyma with simultaneous basal cell carcinomas had complete control of both conditions by orthovoltage x-ray therapy. The use of this modality in the control of rhinophyma alone should be considered.

A number of surgical modalities, including the CO2 laser, have been advocated for the treatment of rhinophyma. The CO2 laser has been extensively promoted for the management of many skin lesions, including warts, keloids, and various nail problems. In many instances it has been suggested that the CO2 laser holds a distinct advantage over other surgical modalities. Three patients with rhinophyma are presented. Results are compared after treating one half of the nose with biterminal electrocutting current and the other half with the beam of the CO2 laser.

Rhinophyma is a form of rosacea and is often cosmetically disfiguring. There are various therapeutic ablation modalities. Surgery is often associated with down-time and side-effects. We describe successful treatment with low-dose isotretinoin as a safe alternative with a lower risk of complications. We also discuss the advantages and disadvantages of various therapeutic modalities.

A variety of surgical techniques have been described for the treatment of rhinophyma. A case of severe rhinophyma was operated with a new surgical technique. The full-thickness excision was combined with the gull-wing incision in this technique. The patient was very satisfied with the result.
