UNLABELLED: This study is to examine the degree to which women engage in attachment behaviors toward their unborn children. Cranley's Maternal-Fetal Attachment Scale (MFAS) was modified to Japanese version (MFAS-J2), which consists of 20 items with .87 reliability. MFAS-J2 was administered to both normal and high-risk pregnant women (n = 275) during gestation. All subjects were restricted to women who were having their first child, and they were between 5 and 40 weeks gestation at the time they completed the instrument. Demographic data were also gathered.

BACKGROUND: The 2000 publication of the Term Breech Trial significantly impacted obstetric practice in Australia with a rapid increase in delivery of term breech singletons by caesarean section. More reassuring data from European centres who continued to offer vaginal breech deliveries to carefully selected women have led to a softening of international guidelines which now support an individualised approach to management. The application of this principle to an Australian population, particularly in the wake of such a major change in obstetric practice, has not previously been demonstrated.

A case of fetal tuberous sclerosis with multiple intracardiac rhabdomyomas exhibited persistent supraventricular tachycardia. The tachycardia was terminated by the use of cardiac version. The largest tumor almost occluded the right ventricular inlet portion. The obstruction was relieved after surgical removal of the largest tumor. No arrhythmia was noted after 3 months of follow-up.

Cord presentation was diagnosed antenatally in nine patients at term referred for fetal ultrasound assessment (incidence of 0.61%). Seven patients were delivered by cesarean section; cord position was confirmed in four and suspected in three patients. There were two vaginal deliveries, one following spontaneous version and the other a stillbirth associated with cord prolapse.
