The clinical appearances of white sponge naevus may mimic other oral white lesions, including premalignant leukoplakia but, unlike leukoplakia, white sponge naevus does not have malignant potential. DEFINITION AND PREVALENCE OF WHITE-COAT HYPERTENSION: White-coat hypertension describes the phenomenon of an abnormal blood pressure reading when taken by a physician and a normal reading with ambulatory or home monitoring. The results of studies suggest that the true prevalence of white-coat hypertension may be 20%. The magnitude of the effect using either the oscillometric or the auscultatory method of measurement appears to be comparable. Home blood pressure readings by self-monitoring (14 readings in 7 days) have been compared to readings taken in the clinic in 937 participants of the Tecumseh Blood Pressure Study. In the absence of firm criteria "hypertension at home" was defined as having home readings in the upper decile of the whole population. A congenital and probably hereditary neurological defect has been identified in the intestinal tract of six foals produced from the breeding of overo (a type of spotting pattern) horses. The foals had white hair and pink skin with the exception of occasional pigmented foci about the muzzle, ventral abdomen, and hindquarters. Actinomadura pelletieri causing white grain mycetoma pedis in a 32 year old farmer is reported. The right foot was swollen, firm painless, non tender and had a number of small nodules breaking down to form sinuses. The seropurulent discharge contained dirty white grains measuring 0.5 to 1 mm, composed of unfragmented filaments of bacterial width. Histologic examination of the biopsy material revealed the characteristic granule of A. Pelletieri and culture yielded typical coral red colonies.

Supraventricular tachyarrhythmia in association with Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome is reported in 3 pregnant women. The management of such arrhythmia is discussed, and it is suggested that pregnancy may predispose asymptomatic patients with Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome toward exhibiting arrhythmia. The diagnosis and etiologic considerations of this syndrome in association with pregnancy are reviewed, and it is concluded that further investigations are needed to determine the incidence of Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome-induced arrhythmia in pregnancy.

CT scans of 11 patients with proved white-matter disease were reviewed and divided into three categories. The demyelinating (secondary) and diffuse sclerosis groups frequently exhibited abnormal intravenous enhancement and mass shift. This made differentiation from inflammatory and neoplastic processes difficult. In the dysmyelinating disorders, pathologically noted diffuse loss of white matter and absence of inflammatory response appeared on the scans as areas of diffuse and decreased density in the centrum semiovale. There was no evidence of abnormal contrast enhancement.

Nine patients had white-without-pressure retinal lesions. These lesions were seen in areas of vitreoretinal adhesions. The configuration and location of these lesions changed over variable periods of time. The cause of this pecular migration is unknown, but may be related to separation and re-creation of vitreoretinal adhesions. The migratory nature of white-without-pressure areas has not, to our knowledge, previously been reported in the literature.

Twenty-six patients with Wolff-Parkinson-White (WPW) syndrome were studied by echocardiography.
