A 12-year-old male cat that had been castrated at 6 months of age was examined to determine the cause of urine spraying of 2 years' duration. The cat had acquired physical characteristics of a sexually intact male, and its serum testosterone concentration was greater than values expected for a castrated cat. Administration of a variety of medications did not halt urine spraying. At necropsy, an interstitial cell tumor was found in a remnant of a spermatic cord.

Pituitary and gonadal functions in 16 prepubertal boys with chordee without hypospadias by stimulation of gonadotropin releasing hormone or human chorionic gonadotropin were compared to those of age-matched normal boys. A patient is described with a hormone-secreting interstitial cell tumor, manifesting metastasis 7 years after removal of a reportedly benign primary tumor. The late course of the disease was followed by computerized tomography and serum hormone assays. DICER1 syndrome (DICERs) represents a tumor predisposition genetic syndrome, inherited in an autosomal dominant manner. Germline loss-of-function variants of the DICER1 gene lead to impaired processing of microRNA, gene expression, and increased risk of tumorigenesis. Although pleuropulmonary blastoma (PPB) is the hallmark of the syndrome, multiple extrapulmonary malignant and non-malignant conditions have also been described, including multinodular goiter (MNG) and sex-cord stromal tumors. An autopsy case of a 19-year-old male Japanese student with a primary mixed choriocarcinoma and mature teratoma in the thymic region is reported. A review of a series of 70 Krukenberg tumors seen in consultation disclosed 13 cases with a predominant tubular pattern. Despite the effectiveness of doxorubicin as a chemotherapeutic agent, it exerts toxicity on non-target organs, including the male reproductive organs. This review synthesizes current evidence on both ferroptotic and non-ferroptotic mechanisms underlying doxorubicin (DOX)-induced male reproductive dysfunction. DOX disrupts testicular function by inducing oxidative stress, lipid peroxidation, mitochondrial dysfunction, and apoptosis, particularly in Leydig, Sertoli, and spermatogenic cells. These effects result in reduced testosterone production, impaired spermatogenesis, and poor semen quality.
