INTRODUCTION: Infantile hypertrophic pyloric stenosis (IHPS) is a common gastrointestinal condition that can lead to metabolic alkalosis and, if uncorrected, to respiratory complications. A standardized approach to correct metabolic derangements and dehydration may reduce time until pyloromyotomy while preventing potential respiratory complications. Such an evidence-based policy regarding preoperative care is absent. We aim to formulate a recommendation about preoperative care for infants with IHPS using the Delphi technique.

BACKGROUND: The objective of this study was to assess the ability of prenatal ultrasound to predict an unfavorable outcome and the need for postnatal surgery in cases of fetal hydronephrosis (HY).
METHODS: Antenatal HY was classified according to the renal pelvis anteroposterior (AP) diameter in the third trimester. PURPOSE OF REVIEW: Cataract surgery is the most commonly performed intraocular surgery in the pediatric population worldwide. Although the basic surgical techniques have not significantly changed over the last several years, there are many related issues under continual debate and research. These include use of local perioperative anesthesia, capsular management, type and power of intraocular lenses (IOLs), sutured IOLs, and risk of subsequent glaucoma. BACKGROUND: Compared to early enteral feeds, delayed introduction and slow enteral feeding advancement to reduce necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) is not well studied in micropremies (<750g birth weight).
METHODS: Pre-post case control study. Micropremies who followed a standardized slow enteral feeding (SSEF) protocol (September 2009 to March 2015) were compared with a similar group of historical controls (PreSSEF, January 2003 to July 2009).
