The aims of this paper are (i) to describe an extremely rare case of thymoma metastasis to the oral cavity (ii) report all published cases of thymic tumor metastases to the oral cavity. CASE REPORT: A 62-year-old Italian male patient was referred to the Oral Medicine Department at the Fondazione Policlinico U

Stimuli-Responsive Release-Active Dressing: A Promising Solution for Eradicating Biofilm-Mediated Wound Infections.

Biofilm-mediated wound infections pose a significant challenge due to the limitations of conventional antibiotics, which often exhibit narrow-spectrum activity, fail to eliminate recurrent bacterial contamination, and are unable to penetrate the biofilm matrix. While the search for alternatives has explored the use of metal nanoparticles and synthetic biocides, these solutions often suffer from unintended toxicity to surrounding tissues and lack controlled administration and release. In this study, we engineered a pH-responsive release-active dressing film based on carboxymethyl cellulose, inc

Ambient wing cistern: History, anatomy, imaging and approaches: An overview.

BACKGROUND: The ambient cistern is a noncommunicating paramedian dorsal paired cistern according to the Liliequist classification. While the ambient wing cistern is described for the first time in 1875, Key and Retzius and firstly named in 1950 by Dr. Bengt Liliequist (1923-2008). Due to its complex tridimensional anatomy, it has been a subject of confusion in neuroanatomy. Historically, it has been given multiple anatomical definitions. Our paper focuses on the history, development, radiology, and lesions of the AC along with the AWC and explains the latter as an independently constant anatom

Post Mortem Molecular Biomarkers of Asphyxia: A Literature Review.

Asphyxia is a critical condition characterized by inadequate oxygen supply to the body. Post mortem diagnostics of asphyxia present significant challenges in forensic pathology, particularly when there are equivocal signs during autopsy or uncertain circumstantial data. The identification of biochemical biomarkers that indicate asphyxia has emerged as a promising area of research, as these markers can provide vital insights into the physiological changes occurring at the cellular level during asphyxiation. We performed a review of the scientific literature on the search engines Pubmed and Scop…
